Cadillac V16 Town Coupe
By the mid 20's, Cadillac had begun secret research on a replacement engine for their long established V8, Packard had already taken the V12 route, therefore, Cadillac went for the V16, an engine which was to be large, strong, silent and smooth. In early 1930, the Cadillac 452B V16 was launched. Its 7.4 Liter sixteen cylinder engine had a bore stroke of 76.2 x 101.6 mm respectively. Each bank of eight cylinders was mounted at 45° and overhead valves were operated by push rods from a single camshaft. Breathing though a single vertical carburetor per bank and with a compression ratio of 5.3:1, the engine produced 165 bhp at between 3200 and 3400 rpm and sufficient by the use of hydraulic valve adjusters. Transmission was via a twin disc clutch and a three speed gearbox. Suspension was by semi eliptics, front and rear. Breaking was looked after by servo assisted, mechanically operated drums all round. During 1931, some 750 V16s were sold. A magnificent and superb vehicle described in advertising at the time, Works of the modern masters.
Our Cadillac is in very good condition. The vehicle originally comes from the USA and was imported to Switzerland in 1990. The Cadillac has been well cared for and maintained. We would like to sell the vehicle back to the USA because we believe it should return to its home country.
