This 1970 Pontiac GTO is powered by the original, matching-numbers
455 HO engine backed by a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and
a 12-bolt rear end. The engine was rebuilt by Basko Engine Service
- well known for its racing engines - with recent enhancements that
include a high-performance aluminum radiator and water pump. This
GTO is painted in the original Pepper Green paint with a green
bucket-seat interior. Additional features include a tilt steering
wheel, console shifter, dual mirrors, power steering and power
brakes, air conditioning and power locks. Stored in an
air-conditioned garage since restoration, this GTO 455 HO runs
"like new" and comes with the original radiator, original rebuild
water pump and chrome left mirror. In 1970, Pontiac manufactured
40,149 GTOs, and this is one of the 1,986 fitted with the 455 HO
Engine Package produced for the model year. The 455 HO engine
option had a host of upgrades, including a 12-bolt rear end,
heavy-duty suspension, enhanced sway bars, high-flow exhaust and a
high-performance Quadrajet carburetor. This example was
manufactured in September 1969 and originally delivered to Louis
Frahm Pontiac in Downey, CA. It lived in Los Angeles until 1988,
where it was then put in storage in Tucson, AZ. In 2003, it was
disassembled and rebuilt. The sale includes restoration images, a
number of receipts, original purchase paperwork, a duplicate Window
Sticker, the original title copy, the engine rebuild history, and a
copy of the Build Sheet and Pontiac Historical Services paperwork.
The seller states the original AM/FM radio works, although the
power transistor needs repair to achieve better volume.
