Vehicle Description
Named "Dragonfly Chariot," this custom 1928 Ford Model A coupe was
the only one built by writer-director James Lay for the
science-fiction time travel film "Astral Plane Viking." It's
powered by a Ford 302ci engine with 12:1 compression Keith Black
pistons, aluminum heads, roller rockers and a performance camshaft
with Boss 302 gold-and-black valve covers. The car features
numerous 24-karat gold-plated parts, including the Bug Catcher
air-induction system centerpiece that feeds the Holley 650
dual-quad carburetors into the Offenhauser high-rise manifold. It
also is equipped with a gold-coated dragonfly hood ornament, as
well as a gold-coated 4-link suspension, oil pan, engine pulleys,
control arms and steering. Additional items include a Rose Gold
brass-hammered radiator overflow bottle and a 24-karat dragonfly
grille insert. Finished in 24-karat gold and Royal Translucent
Blue, the exterior features a 24-karat gold-plated fuel cell at the
rear of car, 1924 oversized brass headlights upgraded with LED
lights and1950s custom-brass rocket-style taillights. The interior
is still equipped with props from the movie, including a
brass-hammered mini nitrous bottle with a red launch-switch on the
dash (nitrous is not in the bottle). Other interior features
include an "Astral Plane Viking axe" shifter handle, aluminum seats
with anodized gold, a gold powder-coated steering wheel and column,
a gold gauge bezel, white-faced gauges, custom brown-and-white
cowhide seats, door panels and floor mats, removable gold
cage-style side windows and a custom set of Wilwood gas and brake
pedals. This example rides on translucent-gold powder-coated custom
rims wrapped in Hoosier Pro Street drag-style tires. **TITLED AS
