For Sale: 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K in Higganum, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

2 Owner, 1934 Mercedes Benz 500K Replica

When you can't afford the real thing, a quality replica is the way to go.

With real ones averaging 2 Million dollars, a good looking replica for almost 1% of that is a pretty darned good deal.

This one was built for a Mr Beerup back in 1992 by Heritage Motorcars and it remained in his ownership until 2021 when the current owner bought her.

The first owner primarily displayed her and since new, has only wracked up 7600 miles.

The lines of the replica are pretty close to what most will see in a 500K, although, of the 350+/- real ones, many had slightly different bodies, bespoke built for their owners. Because these replicas were designed to be on modern roads, they have modern bits that just aren't as delicate as the originals. However, as most people have never seen a real 500K, you roll up anywhere in this flowing masterpiece of elegance and people are coming over to check it out.

The basis is actually a 1991 Camaro, with a 305 TBI (Throttle Body Injection) with true dual exhaust, 700R4 4 speed auto transmission (3 and overdrive). The frame has been extended/strengthened to accommodate the massive length of the 500K replica fiberglass body.

With the same suspension as a stock 91 Camaro, one would think that this is a sports car, but at this size, handling isn't the first order of business.. cruising in ultimate elegance and comfort is. The Chevy V8 does sound great and moves the car easily to 60MPH in similar times to a 91 Camaro.

Starting up front is a chrome grill bejeweled with a Mercedes star, the entire front of the car filled with lights and horns. The long hood encloses the V8 (it would have been a supercharged straight 8 back in the day), the raked windshield is much like the original car. The interior is plush burgundy leather seating surfaces with other interior bits, like the door panels, sourced and modified from the Camaro. The suicide doors open and shut easily, and contain roll up windows. The steering is power and so are the brakes (discs in front and rums out back). This one comes equipped with Vintage Air and blows cool, but not cold, so will need a recharge of R12 or upfitted to R134. All the classic antique white gauges read what they're supposed to and work correctly. All the lights work as well, although they may need some adjustment for road driving.Turn the key, wait a second for the fuel pump to do it's thing and the the car fires right up and with the TBI, settles quickly into a smooth, solid idle.

The trunk is fairly spacious and will easily fit a set of overnight bags, not sure about golf clubs.

There are some minor rubs from being in storage, but overall, this Mercedes Benz 500K replica looks the part. Long and gorgeous.

She drives well , looks great and ready to be out and enjoyed.

The current owner is going to be moving and is looking to downsize his collection, so this beauty has been relegated to finding a new home too.

Asking price is $35,000
