I don’t think there’s a better buy in the sports car market than a C6 Corvette. This great looking car is the perfect combination of performance and practicality, without the ridiculous maintenance requirements or $500 oil changes of some comparable exotics. This 2005 6-speed coupe drives it all home with its great looks, low miles, and nice options.
This C6 was purchased new from Bill Kay Chevrolet in Lisle, IL. It presently shows 48k miles which comes to about 2,500 miles per year. The car remains largely stock and includes with a copy of the window sticker. It has a sharp look with its Magnetic Red paint (a $750 option by itself). This is contrasted by the dark window tint which can be easily removed if interested. There is also a removeable body colored roof panel that stores easily behind the seats. Originally equipped with polished aluminum wheels, this Corvette was upgraded to chrome aluminum wheels which have BF Goodrich Comp-2 tires from 2021.
This car has plenty of curb appeal, but there's more to a Corvette than just looking good. The business end comes in the form of the aluminum 6.0L LS2 motor which delivers 400 horsepower and 400 ft-lbs of torque. This is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission for a proper Corvette driving experience. Power then flows through a 3.42 differential and independent rear suspension. Modifications are limited to a Corsa rear exhaust which has more growl than the factory setup . Overall performance is outstanding and what you’d expect from such a sports car, while switchable traction control and active handling will help keep you out of trouble.
The black leather interior is in very good condition throughout. This example has the 1SB Preferred Equipment Group from the factory. This $4,360 package includes dual power seats, head-up display (HUD), tilt/telescoping steering column, heated seats, memory package, and auto dimming mirrors. There was also a Delco / Bose sound system with touch-screen navigation, though this has been upgraded to a modern Alpine unit with Bluetooth (the original is included). There is also a cargo net and cargo shade for the rear compartment. All owner’s manuals are included along with a copy of the window sticker ($52,515) and both factory keyfobs.
This is a great chance to buy a nice C6 for less than half its MSRP, and for way less than a new Corvette. It brings the look and performance of a much more expensive exotic but with a practicality few can match, all while delivering almost 30 mpg on the highway.
