For Sale: 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix in Savannah, Georgia

Vehicle Description

1977 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX SJ 400 4BBL

I purchased this one-owner 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ, with a little less than 84,000 actual miles from the estate of the original owner in upstate Florida.  It’s obvious from the photos that Bill (the previous owner) took excellent care of this car for the many years he enjoyed it.

This Poncho is dressed in Lucerne Blue Metallic.  It appears to be an older repaint, but in very nice condition. It presents extremely well with tons of gloss and depth showing with a few flaws.

Build quality of Grand Prix is very nice, with consistent panel fit and nice factory gaps. The chrome, trim, glass, and emblems are also in beautiful condition. The inside of the Grand Prix is almost in new featuring bucket seats, a console with floor mounted shifter, factory air-conditioning, AM/FM with 8 Track, power trunk release and power windows.  There are a couple of cracks in the dash pad.

All of the electronics work well including lights, horn, windows and gauges.  The exceptions: the clock and radio do not come on and the A/C needs a charge.  The A/C will blow cold to a temperature of a little less than 60 degrees at the dash vents on a hot Savannah day in August ( 95 degrees out there), so a bit more freon is needed to get it down to the low 40’s as these GM cars of this era were known to do.

Under the hood features the legendary Pontiac 400 CI V8 engine in unmolested condition, runs great and starts on a dime. The Pontiac 400 CI V8 engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. The engine compartment is nice and tidy and shows very little signs of wear and tear.  Again, showing this car has been taken care of over the years.. If you're looking for an excellent example of a Grand Prix SJ this is a solid, rot free, unmolested example.

The car goes down the road as you would expect.  Driving is a joy and the 400 makes gobs of torque so it pulls off the line nice.  The tires are good, with plenty of tread.  They are older, but not cracked.  The exhaust system is older.  The brakes work well, with the fronts a bit grabby, they loosen up as you dive it.

I made a comprehensive video where I go over the car, front to back, start and drive it.  Take the time to look at it if you are truly interested.

I love old cars.  Accordingly, I am always on the hunt for another.  That said, if you have a vintage car that you might want to trade, reach out to me.  These are the cars that (mostly) I have interest in, not in any particular order:

1968 - 1972 Chevy Chevelle

1968 - 1972 Pontiac GTO

1968 - 1977 Olds 442 - Cutlass

1968 - 1972 Ford Mustang Fastback

1970 - 1974 Plymouth Barracuda

1970 - 1974 Dodge Challenger

1968 - 1987 Chevy - GMC - K-10 or K20

I am completely okay with project cars. I'm good to trade up for the right car (my car and some $$ to you) or to swap even, trade down for the right car.  If you have a foreign car, sorry, they're not interesting to me.  Also I'm not interested in older or newer cars than listed above.  No offence meant, they're just are not my jam.

If you have questions just reach out and ask.
