detail, this build has garnered worldwide acclaim as one of the
finest and most tasteful Apache pickups ever created.
Completed in 2015, the truck remains in pristine condition, running
and driving as smoothly as it looks. The PPG pearl paint job boasts
remarkable depth and sheen, with bodywork and panel fitment
executed to the highest standards. The engine bay is impeccably
clean and highly refined.
The interior, crafted by the legendary artist Sean Johnstun of Fat
Lucky's, showcases one of the most desirable custom interiors ever
created. The white oak bed, featuring stainless trim, is both
classic and timeless. Every aspect of this truck has been treated
with the utmost care and quality craftsmanship. The chassis and the
underside of the cab and bed are as flawless as the exterior.
Cab:
• 2" chop with a tapered roof skin
• Deleted "eyebrow" overhang above the windshield
• Windshield frame lowered to match the height of side glass for a
uniform look
• Deleted drip rails and cowl vents
• Rounded door and hood corners at the rear
• Front fenders welded solid to the cab for a seamless, molded
look
• Reworked front valance/splash pan for a better fit with the front
bumper
The engine bay is fully molded and detailed, featuring custom
firewall panels, inner fenders, and a hand-built radiator shroud,
with smooth seams throughout.
Bed:
• All seams fully welded and smoothed, inside and out
• Custom roll pan beneath the tailgate, with tailgate seams blended
smoothly with custom side sections to match the upper and lower
sections
• Hidden self-retracting tailgate cable system
• Front of the bed extended forward and reshaped to wrap around the
cab
• Quarter-sawn white oak bed wood, hand-selected, cut evenly,
smoothed, fitted, gapped, stained, cleared, and finished with a
sand/buff process identical to the body paint
• Mar-K stainless bed strips fitted with ends folded 90 degrees to
cover seams
• Rear access panel hinged and fastened with dzus fasteners,
allowing access to the air management system, tank, compressors,
and battery
Grille:
• Handmade tube grille from 5/8" steel with rounded ends
• Hand-formed grille surround incorporating stock turn signal
bezels
This version maintains the original content while improving
readability and flow.
INTERIOR
Upholstery:
• Custom upholstery by Sean Johnstun of Fat Lucky's, featuring a
fully detailed interior. The molded headliner is designed to fit
the concave shape of the roof perfectly.
• Late-model GMC bench seat with custom lower door panels blended
into stock metal upper units, which are painted and accented with a
chromed bead roll. Finished with '54 Chevy armrests.
• German loop carpet with matching piping, complemented by a custom
sisal floor mat, similar to those used in vintage Mercedes.
• Upholstered panels in the footwell area adjacent to the running
boards, with the inside of the glovebox also upholstered.
• Kicker Audio sound system with four 6x9 speakers placed in the
front and rear, hidden behind custom-made stainless mesh integrated
into the upholstered panels.
• Handmade enclosure for the 8" subwoofer and 5-channel amplifier,
located behind the rear seat. Audio output is via an auxiliary
cable hidden beneath the seat.
Dash:
• The stock dash features a '53 Chevy car center section, with two
air conditioning vents discreetly hidden behind it.
• Stock instrument panel with additional gauges housed in a
handmade unit beneath the dash.
• Glovebox corners are rounded, and gaps are meticulously
refined.
• Original '59 Impala steering wheel mounted on a stock, modified
steering column, supported by a handmade column drop.
• Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum air conditioning/heating system, neatly
tucked beneath the dash and custom painted to match. The control
panel is handmade with green pearl acrylic knobs.
Other details:
• Gennie shifter with a green pearl acrylic shift knob.
• Lokar gas pedal.
• Green tinted glass throughout.
CHASSIS
• Stock frame, modified and painted black, along with the
suspension components. The 19-gallon fuel tank is painted in
contrasting silver.
• Brake booster painted silver, with stainless fuel lines and
coated steel brake lines.
• Front end features a '78 Trans Am clip with modified upper
control arms, McGaughy's drop spindles, and handmade airbag mounts
fitted with Firestone 2600lb bags.
• Rear frame includes a Welder Series C-notch, bag mounts, and a
triangulated 4-link setup.
This revision maintains all the technical details while enhancing
the overall readability.
Rear Differential:
• '78 Trans Am rear differential with a 3.23 ratio, limited slip,
fully rebuilt by Unitrax in Anaheim, CA.
Brakes:
• Disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear, controlled
by an ABS Power Brake booster and master cylinder from Orange,
CA.
Wheels:
• Original '54 Chevy wheels, painted to match the exterior,
finished with original '51 Oldsmobile hubcaps featuring a
color-matched center emblem.
Tires:
• Coker radial tires, size 205/75R15.
Air Management System:
• Accuair e-Level Plus air management system with a 5-gallon tank
and two 444c compressors.
Engine and Transmission:
• Chevy small block 350 engine, featuring an Edelbrock 600
four-barrel carburetor, HEI distributor, and Hedman headers.
• Turbo 350 transmission.
• Hand-built exhaust system with Patriot Variflow mufflers and
electronically operated cut-outs controlled by a push button under
the dash.
• Driveshaft from Powertrain Industries in Garden Grove, CA.
• Mooneyes valve covers with matching breathers.
• U.S. Radiator with a custom-built shroud.
