Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this stunning 1968 Dodge
Super Bee for your consideration. This iconic muscle car, with a
real WM VIN code, was one of the first Super Bees produced, with a
build date of May 18, 1968. Originally finished in Turbine Bronze,
this Super Bee came equipped with a Magnum 383 engine, a
column-shift automatic transmission, power steering, AM radio, and
a bench seat. Notably, it also featured a factory-installed
'Tic-Toc-Tach,' which is still functional today.
In 1969, Dodge and Plymouth offered the A12 package, a performance
option that included 3x2-barrel carbs and a lift-off fiberglass
hood. The previous owner admired this package so much that they
transformed this Super Bee to resemble the A12 by replacing the
original 383 engine with a stroked 383 and swapping the automatic
transmission for an 833 4-speed manual. They also added a
fiberglass hood and repainted the car in EF6 Bright Green, a
high-impact color from 1969.
Since acquiring the car in May 2002, the selling owner has
completed numerous upgrades, including an AM/FM radio conversion,
new door and rear seat cards, and replacing the 4-speed manual with
a three-speed overdrive transmission. Additional enhancements
include power front disc brakes, Classic Air Conditioning, Dynamat
insulation in the floors and trunk, new carpet, and a restored dash
bezel. The alternator and three-speed wiper motor have also been
restored, and both bumpers have been re-chromed. The stainless trim
is in near-perfect condition, and the vent wing frames, door seals,
and 'cat whiskers' have all been replaced. The car sits on
three-nub 15-inch wheels with chrome lug nuts and red line tires,
completing its A12-inspired look.
This Super Bee underwent a repaint around 2015, during which the
left quarter panel was replaced due to questionable previous
bodywork. The rear frame rails and trunk floor have also been
replaced, while the front sheet metal remains original. The paint
retains a high gloss and still cleans up beautifully. Extensive
documentation, including many photos of the bodywork process, is
included with the car.
Garaged in a heated space, this Super Bee was rarely driven, with
only 250 miles added to the odometer in the past two years. The
odometer currently reads 99,514 miles, with just roughly 8,300
miles driven since its purchase by the selling owner in 2002. This
car has a proven track record, having made multiple trips to the
Mopar gathering in Columbus, Ohio, and even bringing home
trophies.
