For Sale: 1993 Buick Roadmaster in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1993 Buick Roadmaster Limited 4 Door Sedan

The Roadmaster name was used by Buick three times over 60 years with and there was a 30 year hiatus before it was reintroduced for the 1991 model year, giving legitimacy to the name as it was Buick's largest vehicle on the road during the era from '91 to '96 and marked a return of the rear wheel drive platform for a sedan since 1985.

For consignment, a 1993 Buick Roadmaster with less than 100,000 miles and lots of newer parts and service. It is ready to master the road under new ownership!

Exterior
If you're going to have a car that's about the size of a limousine, you might as well make it white. This car is decked out in Summit White two stage paint with bold silver body trim that encircles the car and utilizes the robust bumpers to complete the loop. A twin pinstripe on the shoulder line further helps to break up the billboard white panels that make up this enormous car. A wide face with integrated headlights and a gaping grille fronts a big hood and out back, the large trunk lid cascades onto taillights that span the six foot width of the car, leaving a gap for the license plate. In profile, the big windows give way to a landau vinyl top that presents as a bonnet over the C-pillar and roof, trimmed in metal and wearing horizontal opera lights. There are no fender skirts on the car, but the rear wheel openings cover the top part of the tires which ride on five spoke aluminum alloy wheels. The tires are 235/70R15's with a mid 2022 date code. Imperfections include an area of rust and bubbles behind a wheel and multiple dings, scratches and scuffs on that ring of metal trim that surrounds the car.

Interior
A combination of blue material including plastic, vinyl, and carpet covers the door panels with the front doors being particularly long. The blue is accented with faux burlwood trim on the upper panel that contains door actuator, handle, lock buttons and mirror controls. All four doors and their mixed hues of blue all look clean and intact. Large, dark blue leather bucket seats occupy the front with horizontal stitched detail and power controls on the driver's seat and the front passenger. The driver's seat shows some compression and creases, but is not torn or worn, while a large armrest/storage bin resides in the middle. There is a center armrest for the backseat occupants too, who will enjoy a generous bench seat with head restraints, all in blue leather. A simple blue steering wheel holds an airbag in the center and leads to a square framed gauge cluster with round gauges on a flat, black background. An AM/FM/Cassette radio is housed in the center panel of faux burlwood while the A/C panel is on the blue plastic lower dash. A carpeted dash cover is fitted to the top and the wide floor has light blue low pile carpet and a number of mats on top. The large truck is lined in gray cloth which also covers the spare, and a cargo net is strewn side to side for smaller items you don't want to roll around in this ice rink sized compartment.

Drivetrain
Under the hood, a presentable driver quality 5.7 liter L05 V8 resides on the frame, putting out 210 horsepower, is fuel injected and backed by a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels where it finds a 10 bolt differential with 2.56 gears. Our consignor states that newer items include the battery, thermostat, belts, hoses, distributor, wires, spark plugs, coil, fuel pump, and fuel filter. The throttle body was rebuilt, and the transmission was serviced and the oil was changed less than 1,000 miles ago. Power brakes are onboard with discs in front and drums in the rear.

Undercarriage
The underside is driver quality with typical surface rust but is devoid of any leaks or otherwise misplaced fluids. The single exhaust snakes its way back to a stock style muffler and resonator, then exits out back. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and a 4 link with coil springs out back.

Drive-Ability
After chatting it up with the fellas at the yacht club, we set sail for the test loop, navigating our garage bay, and steering the bow towards open waters, or at vehicle free tarmac. As expected, it's a bit like riding on a cloud with a softness once reserved for Cadillac and Lincoln. Use those big windows to mind your size and you make turns, and we do so with adequate power, straight tracking, and good braking. All functional items work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Only 28,829 Buick Roadmaster Sedans were built in 1993 which doesn't make it a rare car, but in 2024, it's certainly uncommon to see one. As the flagship car at a time when cars would shrink exponentially in coming years, this car represents a moment in time, and still delivers comfort and analog operation that's easy to maintain. Its wheelbase might be a few inches short of true limousines, but backseat occupants are going to feel opulent in the cavernous cabin of this big, white Roadmaster.
