For Sale: 1971 Rolls-Royce Corniche in Carey, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Here is a really fine and top example of a Corniche convertible. Finished in delectable Ivory with handsome and rich St James red hides with matching Wilton wool carpets throughout. All highlighted with a brand-new set of matching lambswool overlays. The coach-lines are elegantly coordinated to the St James red interior. A very desirable and mature colour combination of the era. To be very clear, this is a top-tier example that is Rolls-Royce show-worthy. A restored example undertaken at considerable cost - by leading Rolls-Royce professionals - to ensure all was kept to factory specifications. You really do not get much better than this one. The Corniche design with its signature rear quarter "hip-line" is unquestionably one of the most elegant of coach-work designs provided by Rolls-Royce's coach-builder - Mulliner Park-Ward. It has tested the time for elegance and style enduring no less than 30 years in production (1966-1996). This being a 1971 model with the early style full chrome bumpers combined with their lower poise, really make for a handsome motorcar and present amongst the best of Mulliner Park-Ward's offerings. This is a high-end, beautifully restored example that has been incredibly well maintained by a leading Rolls-Royce work-shop and, as such, presents and performs in excellent condition. She is primarily all to original specifications with no modifications. Even the Moto Lita wood steering wheel is the factory optional type and NOT the aftermarket Nardi type often seen. The Corniche convertible presented here has been work-shop inspected with all work needed carried out. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes are fully inspected and serviced as required. This includes checking of all brake hoses and system pressure tested and bled. It is ready to drive and enjoy. The odometer shows a low 24,000 and although this is not verifiable, is purportedly true. It is very quiet and smooth on the road having had almost every suspension, steering and drive-train bushing attended to. So she is without any of the typical "thumps" and "rattles" typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples of this model. In fact, so smooth, that she ranks as amongst the nicest driving early Corniches we have ever had. And, to that extent, I have included a video of how she drives just to show how smooth and quiet she is. The interior is simply superb. The St James red seat leather was redone in the last few years at a cost in excess of $15,000 and is in absolute show condition. Literally as new. The wood was also completely redone and is in equally good condition. amount of patina. The burr walnut wood throughout the car is equally beautiful. The wood door cappings, dash, centre console and minor finishes were all redone by a leading California wood re-finisher at a cost of some $5,000 several years ago. The process was done in accordance with the Rolls-Royce "multi-layer lacquering technique" which involves painstaking wet sanding and buffing by hand between all coats. The final finish on the wood throughout is simply stunning and is like glass. And, you have to thank Mother Nature for its beauty. The rich ochre grain and pattern makes it very warm and inviting. Absolutely stunning! The convertible top and head lining is new of some 5 years and also of top condition. The carpets with leather binding are excellent and have sumptuous matching lambswool moutons fitted. These are brand new from the factory supplier and were fitted by us. Likewise is the leather finish to the dash and top-roll. The boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is also in excellent. The body on this Corniche is very true and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The colour presents white in most of the sunshine pictures but is actually Ivory. Shade photos are also provided so you can compare the colour against a white wall behind the car. The car was repainted some 15 years ago and all done extremely well. There are so
