Vehicle Description
This is a lovely and original presenting Silver Shadow saloon
finished in Regent red with beige Connolly hide interior. It has a
single hand-painted gold fine line to the waist-rails and hubcap
beauty trim rings which complement wonderfully. The combination is
adorably regal. This is a very early Silver Shadow with chassis
#1901, where the first Silver Shadow was #1002, making this the
900th car off the production line. Although titled as a 1967, she
is a 1966 factory build. She was destined for Beverly Hills from
new and has remained there all of her life, having only just come
to us in the last few months. The exterior of the car is straight
and rust free with the underside clean and tidy ~ as you would
expect for a California car. The paint is in excellent condition
with the finish high in lustre and consistent all over. It was
repainted about some 15 years ago. The quality of the paint job is
good and today only shows very minor blemishes. Overall, the
exterior presents beautifully with all chrome and glass in good
condition. Inside door edges and jams are clean and tidy. The
interior of the car is very good. The leather is the original
Connolly from the factory and appears to have been re-coloured at
some stage and presents decently well with some minor cracks
appearing (but not torn). Being an early silver Shadow it has the
truly elegant "Chippendale" dash which displays plenty of wood and
instrumentation. Early Shadows also have the factory specification
picnic tables which are simply a divine touch. And, being an early
car, it has all the very graceful knobs, switches and handles that
later had to be changed to meet updated Federal safety standards.
There is no question these early cars are the most elegant in
appearance and presentation, and certainly as their designers had
intended. Door panels, interior chrome work, gauges and instruments
are all in fine condition. The car even sports its original
Blaupunkt push-button radio. The light African burl walnut is all
original and displays in the traditional low-sheen/satin finish
that is consistent with the factory process. It is all in fine
condition and, like the leather, without damage but displaying an
acceptable degree of patina you could only hope for in a car that
is almost 60 years old! This includes all 4 doors, dash, console,
window surrounds and rear vanity mirrors. And, with the beauty of
only the best of burl walnut, the grain in this Silver Shadow
displays a very intense pattern and colour. From rich yellow ochres
to rich reds and browns. It is truly stunning. The head-liner shows
some grubbiness/stains but I would still describe it as being of
acceptable "usable" condition. The boot space is immaculate.
Mechanically the car is offered in very fine shape. All Park-Ward
cars go thru an intensive reconditioning process at our in-house
service facilities. Both pre and post-sale ("Predelivery
Commissioning"). This includes addressing all the
hydraulics/braking system. All maintenance and services are brought
up to date to include important expensive items - such as brake
pumps, accumulators, calipers, pads and brake lines. The engine
purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. The odometer reads
51,810 miles which are not verifiable. We are not sure if this is
correct and yet cannot say if its clocked over either. The car
seems "too nice" for that and looks every bit a low mileage
example. Tyres are brand new 215/75 15 whitewalls and present
perfectly. They are a adorned with dent-free hubcaps that are not
only straight but the stainless steel shiny. A/C blows ice cold and
the heater works well. Electricals are all serviced by Park-Ward so
windows, seats and features & functions work as they should. All
interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and
lamps operating correctly. This Silver Shadow very comfortably
ranks as a 10-out-of-10 driver quality example.
