From 1979 to 1982, Harry Shay and the Ford Motor company entered
into an Agreement to produce a replica of the extremely popular
Model A. The goal was to produce the classic look of the Model A
without the unreliability of the mechanicals, rough rides, or
problems with the old steel bodies. These replicas were built on
the Pinto/Fairmont chassis and featured fiberglass bodies and steel
hoods. With approximately 5000 examples produced, these fine cars
are somewhat or a rarity.
The car presented at auction is an extremely nice car. The paint
and body is in very good condition as is the top. The interior of
the car and the rumble seat show well and the wide white wall tires
are reported to be in good condition. The car is reported by the
seller to run, drive and stop very good. It is said to cruise along
easily at 60-65 mph The car is equipped with a heater for
comfortable cruising on a brisk spring or fall day and also comes
with a radio!
The odometer displays 2423 miles, believed to be accurate, but not
confirmed.
