Lifetime California Bronco. Higher mileage, but exceptionally clean
and well-maintained. Desirable 5.8-liter V8 with minor upgrades.
Beautiful original interior. Lots of spare parts included. Handsome
full-sized Bronco with a very reasonable price tag!California
vehicles really are better. The gentle climate means that even a
35-year-old Bronco like this still looks amazing and you know
there's no rust or rot underneath. Wearing the catalog color
combination of dark blue over tan, this is one of the best-looking
of Ford's full-sized SUVs. The marketing partnership with Eddie
Bauer meant these were top-of-the-line trucks with a distinctive
look that is still distinctive today. Much of the paint is
original, with some portions being repainted below the belt line,
but it has a consistent look that's still appealing and as a
California truck, you know rust is a non-issue. Panel fit is great,
with doors that close easily and a hood that latches without a big
slam. You'll note the aero-style headlights aren't foggy like many
of its peers, and the chrome is in outstanding shape. There's some
sun fading on the roof, but it's not like it's visible to anyone
but an NBA center, but that's really the only demerit on what is
otherwise a really clean truck. Steps have been added, which is
always a good idea on a big 4x4, and there's a matching full-sized
spare out back, giving it a capable, rugged look. Look at how
straight this truck is and then take another look at the price. The
interior is just as well-preserved, with original tan cloth wearing
those cool woven inserts on the seat backs. Twin buckets flanking a
wide console make the Bronco feel more luxury than utility, and
just about everything was standard equipment: A/C, power windows
and locks, cruise control, and a full array of gauges, including a
tach. The rear window is also power actuated and works correctly,
giving access to the rather cavernous cargo bay. There's also a
modern Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo system neatly installed in the
center stack. A heavy-duty roll bar has been added above the rear
seat, perfect for off-road adventures with the hard top removed,
but it doesn't intrude on passenger or cargo space. Carpets, door
panels, and headliner are all quite nice and even though this truck
lived its life in the sun, the dash isn't cracked or faded. Someone
took really good care of this Bronco! For power it uses the optional
5.8-liter V8 (that's a 351 Windsor to you old-school guys) with
fuel injection and about 200 horsepower and 300 lb-ft. of torque on
tap. You'll quickly note a few upgrades, including the Edelbrock
intake manifold, BBK dual throttle body, and K&N air filter and
intake assembly, all of which might add up to a few extra
horsepower (the original throttle body is included with the truck).
It also uses blue silicone hoses for the cooling system, which
should practically last forever. None of that affects its
easy-going personality, as the factory EFI insures easy starts and
a clean idle under almost any conditions. There's plenty of low-end
torque on hand to get the big 4x4 rolling, and thanks to the
4-speed automatic transmission and 3.55 gears in the pumpkins, it's
a comfortable highway cruiser as well. A glance underneath and you
can see why California vehicles are better?this sucker is clean!
The front suspension is Ford's legendary 'Twin I-Beam' setup that's
tough, if not super precise, and it's been augmented with a BDS
steering stabilizer that really makes a difference. The rest is
stock, including the exhaust, which sounds muted but muscular. The
floors and rockers are excellent, with factory primer visible
throughout and zero signs of winter use. Power steering and power
front disc brakes are plenty adequate for the truck's performance,
and it sits on factory 15-inch aluminum wheels and a fresh set of
31x10.50-15 off-road radials. This truck includes A LOT of extras,
including the original manuals, marketing materials featuring this
truck on the cover, and a ton of spare parts that practically fill
the entire cargo bay. This is a truck that has obviously been
loved. It offers great colors, a torquey V8, and the kind of
full-sized capabilities that most of today's SUVs just can't match.
Given the growing popularity of early Broncos, this is a great time
to get into a clean second-gen 4x4, especially one with all the
options. A whole lot of truck for the money?call today!Harwood
