This 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible marked "America's
Sports Car" transformation from a muscle to a touring sports car.
Chevrolet even advertised that "We gave it radials, a quieter ride,
guard beams, and a nose job." A number of detail changes made the
1973 a better, quieter, and more comfortable Corvette than its
predecessors. The most noticeable were the front bumpers. Gone was
the traditional chrome bumper, now replaced with plastic
energy-absorbing structures with body color flexible urethane
coverings to meet federal 5-mph accident standards. It was the only
year that a "rubber" bumper and chrome rear bumper were used at the
same time. The hood was redesigned to eliminate the windshield
wiper covers and provide carburetor air from the high-pressure area
at the base of the windshield. More important changes were
invisible, including improved sound deadening treatment, new body
mounts, and side-impact door beams.
Finished handsomely in Dark Blue Metallic, this Stingray
convertible features a factory luggage rack, a white folding
convertible top, and an optional factory removable hardtop painted
the same as the body. The classic Corvette look is completed with a
set of factory 15x8 rally wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial
T/A raised white-lettered tires.
The black interior features leather seats, factory air
conditioning, tilt and telescopic steering column, and original
tachometer and gauges. The cockpit of this Corvette is factory
stock in appearance except for an upgraded Kenwood Excelon stereo
AM/FM/CD player with Bluetooth to play your preferred top-down
cruising music.
Power comes from a healthy 350 cubic inch small block engine paired
with a 4-speed manual transmission. Under the hood, the appearance
is factory stock, with the correct air cleaner, ignition shielding,
valve covers, and even proper decals in place.
A photo album with more details of this great car's history comes
with the vehicle.
