Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1996 BMW E36 M3 Evolution.
Offered only in European and rest-of-world markets (but never in
the US), the Evo was the final iteration of the E36 M3. It boasts a
significant performance increase over both the US and earlier Euro
cars, and also introduced a six-speed manual transmission to the M3
line. This M3 was recently imported from Japan, and it remains in
pristine original condition inside and out with only 86,000
kilometers (53,000 miles). Finished in the stunning shade of
Estoril Blue Metallic, the paint and body on this non-sunroof coupe
present beautifully - this example has aluminum doors, which only
came on the E36 M3 Lightweight and a handful of 1996-production
cars. Factory 17-inch Style 39 wheels are wearing nearly new Dunlop
Direzza tires.
The interior is in well-preserved original condition with excellent
carpets, door panels, headliner, steering wheel and dash. Manual
vader seats are trimmed with "M Cross" inserts and Alcantara
bolsters - this ultra-rare factory interior is one of my favorite
details on this car, which was also optioned with seldom-seen power
rear vent windows. Original factory radio, plus all climate control
functions, OBC and dash indicators are working properly with no
dead or dim pixels. A/C is, of course, ice cold.
What makes this car so desirable from a performance standpoint is
the S50B32 engine and six-speed manual transmission - something we
never got in the North American market, and good for an additional
80 horsepower over a US-spec E36 M3. Comprehensive service in
preparation for the sale included brake fluid, power steering lines
with new fluid, differential and transmission fluid service, engine
oil and filter, and new wiper blades. This M3 runs and drives
great; it pulls noticeably harder than a US S52-powered example. It
feels light, quick, responsive and tight just as you would expect
for a well-maintained 50k-mile car.
This E36 M3 Evolution checks all the right boxes for the enthusiast
collector: slicktop, aluminum doors, M Cross and Alcantara
interior, power rear vent windows (and of course 321 horsepower and
a six-speed manual transmission). And did we say Estoril Blue? Sold
on a clean and clear North Carolina title. For more information
