Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful numbers
matching 1972 Corvette Stingray Coupe in fantastic condition. This
Corvette looks excellent, runs great, and is a wonderful driver.
The car is totally solid with nice lines and no rust issues. It is
finished in the beautiful, stunning, and highly desirable color
combination of Ontario Orange (987) over Saddle (417). This is the
correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the
trim tag pictured in this ad.
We have personally driven this car over 25 miles. During that time
that car was completely reliable, had no issues, and was a true
pleasure to drive. It is loaded with highly sought-after options
such as air conditioning (that works and blows cold), power
steering, power brakes, power windows, automatic transmission, and
tilt/telescopic steering column.
This Stingray is "Numbers Matching" meaning the engine in the car
is the correct and original unit that was installed in the car new
at the factory in St. Louis in June of 1972. The last six digits of
the VIN, 523139, are stamped on the engine pad, pictured in this
ad, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also
original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main
case and pictured.
We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent
opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette Stingray at an
unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for
more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3
"chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot
right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video,
list of numbers, and other information to get a true sense of how
nice this Corvette really is.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Model Description
The 1972 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1972 was the last
year to feature chrome bumpers and the "egg crate" grill, it is
considered to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Years
after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices,
and emission concerns, 1972 is considered the last "good" year. It
was also the last year to feature a pop out rear window, and the
first year that the way horsepower ratings are measured changed
from gross to the more accurate net. As in investment, the 1972
will always have an advantage and out perform other years because
of its precedence as the end of a very great period for Corvette
and muscle cars as a whole.
Exterior
The Ontario Orange (987) exterior is in great driver condition. As
one can see in the photos, the finish has nice gloss and smooth
finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps
are in good condition with a brilliant finish and no major curb
rash on the beauty rings. The BF Goodrich raised white letter tires
have about 90% tread left. There are no major blemishes that have
been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some touch
ups, a small spot on the hood, and some other tiny imperfections
around car that were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing
else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away.
This corvette has no rust issues and as one can see in the many
photos of the underside this car is very clean underneath. The
frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" area on
the frame in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of
corrosion around the windshield frame or "birdcage," which are the
most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included
specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice
this car looks.
Interior
The Saddle (417) interior of the Corvette is in fantastic
condition. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are
clear. The dash is in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun
damage. The seats look just as great in person as they do in the
photos with no split seams or rips. There is one tiny spot in the
typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. The
carpet is in also in nice condition with no rips, holes, or major
stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected.
The radio works well. It is a modern radio with a vintage look made
just for this model Stingray so most importantly, the dash has
never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The
door panels are in nice condition and unlike many other Corvettes
from this era they fit well and tight to the door. The door panel
is not worn in the typical are where the driver's elbow would sit.
This Corvette has not been smoked in; there are no burns marks and
no aroma of cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the
excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the
care and attention this car has received throughout its life.
Mechanical
This Stingray seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As
stated above we have put over 25 miles on the car with no issues.
The original numbers matching engine starts right away every time,
runs well, and idles smooth. It drives nice on the road and at
highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car
accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all
the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves.
Please note that there are no vibrations and the car performs quite
well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side
or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the power
band. There is not blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The
gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. The car runs
cool and does not overheat. Also, the engine compartment is
beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos, the
upper ignition shielding is still in place.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights,
dash lights, wipers, horn, and indicators, even the key buzzer
still works. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds.
The air conditioning itself also works and blows cold. One can
observe the a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the
video. The vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works
properly, which is a very common problem on chrome bumper
Corvettes. Please note that the vacuum system works properly from
both the respective switches on the dash and the override switch
under the steering column. The operation of the headlights and
wiper door by both switches can be seen in the video. All of the
gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. This Corvette
has a very healthy exhaust note from the sidepipes as one can hear
in the video. Not enough can be said as to how much fun it is to
drive this Stingray, especially with the T-Tops out on a beautiful
day.
