Vehicle Description
The introduction of a lower-price line Plymouth to compete head-on
with Ford and Chevrolet, helped Chrysler Corporation weather the
Depression years of the early 1930s. By the time this 1941 Plymouth
Special Deluxe Coupe was made, Plymouth's standard power unit was a
201.3 cubic inch side valve six producing a maximum of 87 bhp. The
P12 Special Deluxe was Plymouth's top-of-the range series, boasting
no fewer than nine different body styles for 1941. That same year a
Plymouth sedan would claim its place in motoring history when it
became the first car to be driven from Detroit, Michigan to the tip
of South America, an often-perilous journey of 15,745 miles that
took eight months, substantiating their reputation of
durability.

Desirable Special Deluxe Coupe
Runs and drives great
The elegant soft Blue color on this coupe helps highlight its
beautiful art deco styling. An older, but exceptionally well cared
for restoration presents well and looks amazing. With an excellent
paint finish, wide whitewall tires and brilliant chrome and trim,
this is a high-quality Plymouth. The interior appears period
correct, featuring comfortable cloth seats and optional heater. The
deco-inspired dash design is correctly wood-grained with correct
radio, knobs, switches, clock and clean gauge cluster housing the
speedometer, oil pressure, amps, temperature and fuel gauges. A set
of seat belts have been added for safety.
The rugged six-cylinder engine provides ample power and is a
pleasure to operate through the 3-speed, column-shifted manual
transmission. Recent receipts with the car indicate it was recently
treated to a new clutch kit and bearings, oil pan gasket, generator
rebuild, oil change, transmission resealing with new synchronizers,
new U-joint boots and fuel pump repair.
