Vehicle Description
2009 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
"The LS3 features an aluminum cylinder block with cast iron
cylinder liners. The cylinder bores measure 4.06 inches, (103.25
mm), in diameter and combined with a 3.62-inch, (92 mm), stroke to
deliver a 376ci, (6.2L), displacement. Breathing is accomplished
via high flow cylinder heads. They're based on the large port/large
valve design found on the LS7 engine, with larger capacity,
straighter intake ports. The design optimizes intake flow to the
combustion chamber and the exhaust ports are also designed for
better flow." Thx to Vette-vues.com
For consignment, a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe with a title
verified 49,632 actual miles, an LS3, and the 3LT package, and the
Performance Package. This is believed to be a two owner car that
has been garaged by our consignor since 2016.
Exterior
The sixth generation Corvette brings with it exposed headlights for
the first time since 1962 and gives the car more of a face with a
gaping center intake duct for a mouth. Our headlights here are
showing a touch of haze. The tradition of a rise in the nose
blending into the rise on the hood stands here as well, subtle but
adding a bit of aggression to the long hood. In profile, with top
up or down, the Cyber Gray Metallic car presents an air cutting
wedge with a raised rear that also includes subtle body lines for
wind shed and visual interest. The 18 and 19-inch chrome wheels
with big red calipers are dramatic bookends to the profile and the
fender vents define the body lines on the side, a nod to the cove
design of previous generations. In back, the quad tail lights top
center exit quad tailpipes and reverse lights embedded on the
splitter like rear valance. The black canvas top and glass window
are in very good condition. Imperfections include chin scrapes and
other scratches under the rocker panel, and various scratches in
the paint.
Interior
Carved utilizing smooth lines shaping foam and black leather which
form 2 high back buckets for driver and passenger. These are in
very nice condition with no rips or tears though the driver's side
shows some creases and slight compression. The 3LT package includes
leather treatment on the dash and on the door inserts and these
leather seats. Fronting these seats is a dash which grows from side
to side out of a center console that houses a glovebox, and shift
lever fabricated out of leather knobbed and booted. The console
moves gracefully upward giving the climate control center with
digital LED readout and factory AM/FM/CD player space to hang out.
Under the curved instrument cluster, we see a backlit cascade of
gauges perfectly fitted under an emulating shape to this cluster
arch steering wheel. Plenty of power conveniences are noted
throughout. Charcoal carpet floods the floors and is very clean, as
are the door panels. The trunk is also lined with charcoal
carpet.
Drivetrain
Under the reverse opening hood is a cleanly presented 6.2 liter LS3
V8 rated at an astounding 430 horsepower and backed by a rear
mounted 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifter
gear switching available. It all heads to the limited slip axle
with 2.59 gears and slowed by power disc brakes on all four wheels
that have drilled rotors as part of the performance package.
Undercarriage
Components are routed down a center tunnel leaving the sides
covered with flat panels that help with aerodynamics. All is clean
and dry underneath, and the dual exhaust meets at an X-pipe, then
original equipment mufflers just before leaving the underside via
quad tips. Heavy duty suspension specs, close to the Z06, consists
of transverse composite monoleaf springs, tube shock absorbers, and
anti roll bars.
Drive-Ability
America's sports car with an LS3 is an E-ticket ride that offers
the promise of an exhilarating driving experience. And this car
delivers as we rumble onto the test loop and tap the gas pedal,
engaging at least some of the 430 horses underfoot and feeling
locked and loaded in a supportive cabin. The car has serious
acceleration, remarkable grip, and the appropriate fantastic
braking ability. All functions work as they should. While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
Here is a clean Corvette with all the right bells and whistles for
performance and appearance, including a retractable canvas that
opens this car up to topless driving expeditions. Whether that's to
the next Cars and Coffee, from a simple pleasure ride a few miles
from home, this car delivers in spades. It's fast, fun, and looks
darn good going down the road. Are you ready to put a roof over
this roadster?
