This rare Allard J2X has seen exceptional previous collector
ownership. It was originally purchased and owned by well-known Los
Angeles radio host, Joe Pine. Mr. Pine then sold to Mr. Sterling
Dietz, owner of a citrus orchard in the foothills of the Sierra
Nevada mountain range. Thus, this Allard J2X was to become known as
the "Citrus Orchard J2X." Staying within the Dietz family, the J2X
was handed down to Brian Dietz, the son of Sterling Dietz.
Languishing for many years one of the Dietz barns, but complete and
suitable for restoration, this J2X was entrusted to John Harden,
Crane Eveland and Chris Cambell - The Vintage Connection, Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma for a complete and thorough concours restoration. It
debuted 20 months after the start of its restoration, the J2X was
back in California and on the grounds of another citrus orchard for
the "Fabulous Fifties Association" gala at the Bothwell Ranch, a
yearly gathering of an informal group whose membership is a who's
who of racers, owner's and crew from that era.
The most recent owner of this Allard J2X purchased it from Brian
Dietz in 2016. It was then used and enjoyed almost immediately on
that years California Mille. Since, it has been housed in a superb
collection here on Long Island, New York. This J2X has been cared
for when and where needed by the in-house mechanical staff, used
and enjoyed as well as shown at various concours events.
Once behind the wheel, this is without a doubt one of the most
visceral motorcars with wind in the face and one realizes why they
were such potent and enjoyable road and race cars.
Eligible for many motoring and rally events around the world, this
Allard is ready for immediate enjoyment or show.
