Vehicle Description
Here's a firecracker: a red El Camino with a 383 stroker and a
4-speed! Excellent fit and finish, it has received a detailed
ground up restoration and is looking like a knockout. Also fitted
with air conditioning, power steering and 4 wheel disc brakes, it
is ready to be driven. The original protect-o-plate and owner's
manual are included. This truck is proof that you don't need to
spend over $100,000 on a classic to have fun and look cool too!
EXTERIOR: Simple yet striking with the perfect stance! Looking down
the side of the body it is absolutely straight as an arrow. All the
body panels are nicely aligned, and the gaps are above average. The
paint has been applied with great attention to detail then brought
to a shiny and reflective finish. All the chrome trim and bumpers
have a lustrous shine. It has dual side view mirrors. It's sitting
on a gorgeous set of 17" American Racing special edition chrome 5
spoke mags. They are wrapped in a set of Hancook radial tires that
are a litter fatter in the back.
INTERIOR: Completely refinished and ready to cruise! It's gonna be
a heck of a lot of fun throwing around that 4 speed manual shifter.
Rare bucket seats and a console. The headliner, sun visors,
rearview mirror, door panels, bucket seats, center console, and
carpeting have all been replaced. The optional dash pad looks fresh
and even the glove box liner was replaced. The metal portion of the
dash has been painted a slick black and it has a full array of Auto
Meter Phantom gauges to monitor the engine vitals. The rosewood
deluxe wheel is a nice touch too. The dome light is working as
well.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Performance built 383 stroker! The engine has a
bunch of upgrades including a Holley double pumper carburetor,
aluminum intake manifold, GM performance aluminum heads, serpentine
belt drive system, MSD ignition, and long tube headers. It is
equipped with power steering and power brakes. A Fluidyne Aluminum
radiator with electric fan keep the power plant cool. The squirters
are hooked up. The underside of the hood, fender wells, and
firewall have all been neatly painted satin black.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Open the tailgate and the jamb is painted slick
just like the body. The latches were replaced, and it has chrome
hinges. The metal bed is shiny, rust free and is painted as slick
as the exterior!
UNDERSIDE: It looks like it has had a frame off restoration! The
steering and suspension look new: ball joints, center link, tie rod
ends, shocks, springs etc. It's equipped with a four wheel disc
brake system and the emergency brake is hooked up. Nice long tube
headers with a full dual exhaust system and Flowmaster mufflers
that sound amazing. The gas tank was replaced and has new hardware
too. The builder added an external electronic fuel pump. Looking up
at the fresh 383 stroker motor everything is clean and proper; it
has a high torque starter. The Muncie 4 speed manual transmission
also looks fresh. A rebuilt driveshaft leads back to a 12 bolt rear
with a chrome cover. The frame and floors are rust free, smooth
metal with a neatly applied semi-gloss black paint.
SERVICE: Our lead mechanic thoroughly inspected this truck and
installed the idle return spring, repaired the reverse lights,
repaired the horn, tightened the steering wheel, replaced the
speedometer cable, and replaced a high beam headlight.
If you think twice about the opportunity to own a beautiful and
desirable classic like this you will likely miss your chance. It's
got the performance, it's got the look, and it's got the 4 speed
manual transmission. Only thing it still needs is a new
owner...
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
