Vehicle Description
We will be the first to admit it the car offered here will turn
heads in any setting. With an estimated 12,000 hours and $1.2
million invested in its construction, mediocrity was never
considered part of the plan. Known as "Fusion" and believed to be
the first unibody-constructed 1932 roadster ever built, honors have
included being a Great 8 finalist at Detroit Autorama (2007), AMBR
Outstanding Class Award at Grand National Roadster Show (2009), a
Peoples Choice Award at SEMA SoCal and a Best in Show at Cruisin La
Verne, both also in 2009. Some highlights of this one-off roadster
include hand-formed bodywork, the custom sloping rear profile and
hand-fabricated stainless body moldings. Fusion was designed and
executed by noted builder Greg Blackford of Lake Bluff,
Illinois.
Within its detailed, smoothed and customized engine compartment is
now a Chevrolet LS1 V-8 engine with Billet Specialties components
and polished aluminum pulleys, all hidden beneath a custom one-off
engine and air intake. Backed by an automatic transmission, the
one-off rear end features inboard disc brakes and the entire rear
suspension was built so the fasteners are hidden. Indeed, the cars
undercarriage is fully detailed with polished alloy and Copper
paint.
The exterior wears Copper paint as well, and the massaged body
exudes clean, flowing lines with rear-mount suicide doors featuring
shaved handles and key fob entry. A single chrome spear runs from
the front fenders and then is upswept to the rear cab area. Inside
is executed in two-tone custom leathers with Copper paint accents,
with a custom stitch seat pattern matching the metal work and
multi-textured custom door panels. There is a hand-formed steel
dash with Classic Instruments gauges as well, while outside
features include the modern LED lights, a one-off taillight bar
with custom taillights, and custom one-off Boyd Coddington wheels.
Fusion is indeed an appropriate name for this car, which is a
mind-blowing blend of incredible details and classic rodding
cues.
