Intro
This is a 2006 BMW M3 convertible soft top in Jet Black (668) over Black Nappa leather interior with the 3.2 Liter S54 6-cylinder engine mated to a second-generation SMG automated gearbox. The SMG pump was replaced in June 2024 by Sansing BMW, Pensacola at a cost of $7,700 with a 24-month warranty. This M3 options in 2006 included Xenon headlights ($700), Harmon-Kardon sound system ($675), 19” M light alloy wheels double spoke polished ($1,750), and the SMG Sequential Manual gearbox ($2,400). This M3 was originally registered in Florida and has always been in a southern climate. It is stored in a climate-controlled garage and shows just 23,800 miles. It has a clean Carfax with no reported incidents, service records, a clear title and is in Alabama.
Exterior
This M3 exterior is finished in the original factory Jet Black with a black power-operated soft top. Please note paint depth readings in photos. The M3 version of the standard BMW 3 series features widened fenders with side vents, M3-specific bumpers and hood, xenon headlights, fog lights, and quad exhaust tips. The M3 also has stiffened springs and dampers, thicker anti-roll bars, heavy-duty shock mounting points, and steel ball joints instead of rubber compared to a standard 3-Series. The optional 19” M light alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires with 9,600 miles date coded from 2015.
Interior
This M3 interior is upholstered in black Nappa leather with heated 14-way power-adjustable sport seats, matching door panels, and carpets. M3 specific details include a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with M stitching, specialized M instrumentation with warm-up lights, Harmon Kardon stereo and M3 door sill guards. It has automatic climate control, cruise control, full power accessories, rear Parking Distance Control, a rear passenger seat pass-through with a ski bag, a trunk-mounted 6-CD changer, and auto-dimming rearview mirror. The front airbags were replaced under the BMW recall.
Mechanicals
This 2002 E46 M3 is equipped with the 3.2L S54 inline six-cylinder engine rated at 337 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft of torque. This M3 has been religiously maintained with full maintenance history. The seller states the SMG was replaced in June 2024 with a remaining warranty until June 2026. A factory recommended oil service was completed in April 2024.
Summary
This is one of the nicest M3 convertibles we have seen on Collector Chassis. It is owned by a BMW CCA member and enthusiast and has been meticulously maintained. The sale will include service records, all manuals and two keys.
