When Porsche made the announcement their top of the line 911 GT3
and GT3RS would no longer come standard with a manual transmission,
you can believe this didn't sit well with their fan base and
clientele. Although it would make sense why Porsche would make such
a business decision, as PDK is the fastest shifting automatic
transmission known in the automotive industry. One of the reasons
the consumer base bought into the Porsche family was due to their
direct driving engagement with their sports car and the connection
to the road. So what did Porsche do? To celebrate, Porsche would
once again, take their fans and clientele by surprise, and for the
few lucky clients who received an allocation, be able to spec their
very own 911R, equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission.
The 911R carries a lot of the same characteristics and design
language from the 1964 911R. Ample power, light weight, and precise
handling. Lightweight body panels made from carbon fiber bringing
the weight down to just 3,021 pounds. The sensitive steering
feedback and rear wheel steering allow for precise steering, all
while being able to drive on city streets without breaking a sweat.
If you're just cruising around town or have the itch and require
the need for speed one some back roads, this 6 speed manual was
improved to be much more precise to make every gear shift count so
you don't miss a beat while you're going pedal to the metal. With
such a uniquely designed transmission dedicated for the 911R, you
can't just improve on the mechanics and leave the powerplant
untouched. Pairing this 6 speed with a 4 Litre Flat six engine
makes an impressive 500HP.
