What we have here is a stunning example of a 1981 Pontiac 4.9 Liter
Turbo Trans-Am "Bandit" (yes its a real Bandit) with 43,517
original miles on the odometer. The car is finished in Black with
the Eagle Insignia and Text in Gold; this is complemented by a
Beige Velour interior and overall the car is in exceptional
condition. If you look at the data plate, this is a y84 which means
it's an SE or a Bandit. We received much appreciated input from a
watcher who said that there were approximately 5,263 SE Bandits
produced and a little over 3,000 were turbo cars. This car is rare.
The owner bought it for his wife 4 years ago and it has been used
on short trips and weekends. She starts right up, drives and sounds
great but the car is not used enough so the owner wants to move it
to someone who will get more use out of it.
This 1981 Pontiac 4.9 Liter Turbo Trans-Am is a numbers matching
three owner car. She is all original with documented miles and a
Clean Carfax. The car has never been in an accident, has no rot or
rust, no bondo and no modifications (except one repaint and CAT
deletes); other than the paint, she is in original, from the
factory condition. This is an unrestored survivor and as you can
see from the pictures, speaks for itself. The car has its original
4bbl 4.9 Liter Turbo motor coupled to her original 3 speed
automatic transmission.
We have replaced all the fluids, installed Bilstein shocks, updated
the magna flow exhaust and replaced the sway bar bushings. The wear
is minimal and everything, works as it came from the factory:
cigarette lighter, clock, gauges, power antenna, AM/FM/Cassette
stereo, tilt steering wheel, power brakes and windows, turbo hood
lights, intermittent wipers, heat, AC, everything. We even have a
CB radio for it: (not installed) and the original key fob; also the
wheels are the original 1981 Turbo wheels.
The car has been used sparingly over the past 4 years and these
cars - back in their time - were extremely popular; they certainly
command much curiosity and ogling when out cruising. She will do
very well at local car shows and will be a great addition to the
local cruise nights in your area.
