This 55 is a head turner! Older body off frame restored convertible
that is dialed in. It comes from a good seller; he goes the extra
mile to make sure his cars are functional and reliable. It is
turnkey, ready to enjoy. Every time I walk through a showroom
filled with gorgeous cars this one stands out and I hear so many
compliments. Damn, it's sharp looking!
EXTERIOR: The paint and body are fantastic. Looking down the sides
of the body it's straight as an arrow. The paint was polished to a
mirror finish. It is equipped with a continental kit and fender
skirts. The grill, bumpers and all the chrome shine like new. The
dual spotlights with built-in mirrors are a unique feature. The
power convertible top was upgraded to black cloth. The car also
comes with a black vinyl boot. All the glass, seals, and fuzzy
strips were replaced. It's sitting on 15" radial white wall tires
and has beautiful chrome Ford wheel covers.
INTERIOR: The matching Black and Yellow interior was just restored
two years ago with correct reproduction seat upholstery, door
panels, side panels and visors. New carpeting and sound deadening
with embroidered mats. The metal was repainted with gloss body
colors. All the gauges and instrumentation appear to be refurbished
and look great. The radio was updated to FM. Inside the door jambs
is painted slick.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Nicely detailed 272 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt
and upgraded with correct 4 barrel carb, oil bath air cleaner and
Thunderbird Special valve covers. It's been converted to 12 volt
with all new wiring. The radiator, master cylinder and power
steering look fresh. The underside of the hood, firewall and fender
wells are nicely painted as well.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Swing the spare tire out of the way to access
the trunk. The underside of the lid and jamb are painted like the
body. The weather stripping was replaced. All the metal is solid
and neatly painted black. The floor is fully carpeted with bound
edges. Another full-size spare is in the trunk with a jack assembly
and fire extinguisher. The power top mechanism and pump were both
replaced. Included is a set of new correct wire hubcaps and car
cover.
UNDERSIDE: Detailed underside that's been maintained as needed
since restoration. Steering and suspension components were rebuilt.
Has new shocks and springs front and rear. Emergency brake is
hooked up. Has a full dual exhaust system that exits under the rear
bumper. The gas tank, sending unit and fuel lines have been
replaced. Looking up at the motor everything seems correct. The
Fordomatic transmission appears to have been serviced. It's
equipped with a 9" rear end. The floors look solid and rust-free
with nice black textured paint.
SERVICE: Our shop thoroughly inspected the vehicle, we replaced the
ignition coil, repaired the fuel gauge, repaired the turn signals,
repaired the convertible top, replaced the power top switch,
replaced the left rear wheel seal, and rear brake shoes.
This car is striking! It received a quality detailed frame off
restoration. You don't need to spend over $100,000 to catch the
eyes and hearts of everyone around!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
