Vehicle Description
1948 Ford Super Deluxe 2 Door Sedan
Cruising is a social activity that primarily consists of driving a
car. It can be an expression of the freedom of possessing a
driver's license. Cruising is distinguished from regular driving by
the social and recreational nature of the activity, which is
characterized by an impulsively random, often aimless course. A
popular route, (or "strip"), is often the focus of cruising.
"Cruise nights" are evenings during which cars drive slowly. A
cruise can be a meeting of car enthusiasts at a predetermined
location, organized predominantly through the internet, (in recent
times), but also largely through mobile phone, word of mouth or
simply by a cruise being established enough that it becomes a
regular event.
For consignment, a customized for cruising 1948 Ford Super Deluxe.
A 302 V8 that's supercharged, and this car has been nosed, decked,
and has frenched in the old style headlights. Add in a chopped
hardtop paint it beautiful eggplant hue and you are living large
1940's style,. A car really like no other Super Deluxe...super
duper!
Exterior
No lead or body filler for this baby, it's all steel, and the
panels fit like a glove. They seem to have been aligned with a
laser beam, they are so straight and true. Prior to being
reassembled, the top was chopped 4", the hood louvered with 90
slots, to give it a more proportional look, all surfaces were
shaved of any brite work and badging, (including door handles and
trunk handle), then the exterior lighting was frenched into the
fenders. Spray on the closest blue one can get to eggplant blue,
and throw in a custom tubular stainless horizontal grille, with
some simple curved horizontal ribbed bumpers. "Bottom" it off with
4 wide sidewall fatties mounted in chromed 5 bolt steel wheels and
you are in eye candy land.
Interior
Nab the closest 1985 Audi Quattro with two tone white and blue
seats, tear them out and stuff them into this machine age interior,
and you have a very clean looking comfortable passenger seating
area, and it complements the eggplant blue of the exterior. Take a
slab of aluminum, machine it to fit the dash of a 48 Ford, and
insert gauges and a custom sound system, spray eggplant blue around
it, and you have a great looking custom interior. Oh, I need to
mention flood the floor with deep blue expensive carpet, and make
the remainder of the interior match those Audi seats. Then you can
cruise down Main Street, and be a one car parade, all the while
turning heads, and grabbing stares. Super duper.
Drivetrain
A pop of the hood will make the sound of BLING!! SUPER Charged!
302ci Mustang mill with plenty of chrome, and paint the other parts
to match the exterior of the car. A single 4-barrel Edelbrock carb
is atop and a C4 3-speed automatic on back with a Ford 9 inch
rear.
Undercarriage
Shiny immaculate black with hints of the blue, mixed in with red
cherry bombs, a free flow exhaust system, and chrome
tips...grrrrrrrrowl. A mustang front end for easy steering, and a
Lincoln rear end to handle the torque put out by the 302 cubes, and
you are going to smell some rubber.
Drive-Ability
She fires up with a stunning roar, and off it was to the test
track. It has ample acceleration, good handling and braking, but
it's the cruise that is most impressive. Whether low and slow or a
trip down the highway this car handles both with ease, and without
a heavy foot, saves some fills for later wasting by laying rubber!
All functions were working as they should save for the AC blowing
cool but not cold. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
A lot of hot rods go through the doors here at Classic Auto Mall,
some stay much longer than others. This Hot Rod Custom is a real
eye-catching build, and there truly is something about it when you
gaze upon its shiny panels, smell its luxurious interior, hear its
throaty growl, touch the awesome super smooth metal panels, and you
will want a taste for more. It will not last long folks. A round
mound of ground pound Super...Deluxe!
