Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1936 Ford 4-Door
Slantback Sedan. This cool street rod comes to us today dressed in
a driver-quality coat of Washington Blue paint with some tasteful
light blue and fuchsia pinstriping. This Ford is an all-steel car
with the exception of fiberglass front fenders and the body is nice
and straight. The restoration of this car took place before 2000
when the most recent owner purchased the car. In this owner's
tenure, they only put 4,323 miles on the car and they kept all
receipts for work done during that time. With such light use, it's
easy to see why the restoration has held up so well! The
attention-grabber at the front end is the gleaming inverted
pentagonal grille with vertical bars that sports a raised V8 and a
Ford/Lincoln Greyhound ornament just above. These greyhound
ornaments are tough to come by and we believe that this one is
likely an original (not a reproduction). The bright grille is
flanked by enormous egg-shaped headlights with bright bezels and
swooping curved fenders. Beneath the grille is a chrome bumper that
curves downward in the center and appears correct to the car. The
bulbous hood opens with upward folding doors on each side that are
adorned with three chrome trim pieces accenting two rows of vents.
A bright hood spine leads the eye to the chrome-trimmed windshield.
From the side you'll see that the rear doors of this Ford are
"suicide-style" (opening toward the rear of the car), making the
entrance into the spacious rear seating area feel special every
time you get in. Beneath the doors are solid steel running boards
with nice black rubber mats from fender to fender. The doors open
and close easily, line up well and have OEM-correct chrome handles.
The top of this Slantback features an exceptionally nice black
vinyl top that looks like it was just put on. Around the back,
you'll find a full spare in a body-color chrome shell mounted to
the center of the slanted rear. The rear bumper, like the front, is
bright and correct to the car. Elongated factory taillights extend
from the rear fenders with the driver's side fixture also offering
a chrome gas cap. A modern third brake light is perched in the rear
window and an antenna has been mounted to the passenger side of the
bumper support. Extending out from beneath the rear are two chrome
trumpet-style exhaust tips that let you know that this is no
ordinary '36 Ford. This blue beauty rolls down the road on 8-hole
aluminum wheels with knock-off spinners, all wrapped in BF Goodrich
tires.
Back when this Ford was new it would have come with a 221ci
flathead V-8 under the hood that, while long-lasting, left a great
deal to be desired in terms of horsepower and excitement. This has
all changed now for this Slantback as it currently has a 1970 350ci
300+hp V-8 tucked under the hood! When the most recent owner
purchased the car he was told that the engine was bored .30 over
and had a performance cam. Though we have no way of proving that
today, we can attest that this old Ford has more than enough power
to make you smile every time you step on the gas. The 350 is topped
off with finned Chevy valve covers, an Edelbrock Performer intake,
a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a Holley Powercharger polished
aluminum air cleaner. Exhaust flows through wrapped headers and
glass-pack style mufflers before exiting the rear trumpets with an
awesome sound. The engine runs nice and cool courtesy of a Walker
radiator that was re-cored in 2008. The stout V-8 is mated to a
TH350 3-speed automatic outfitted with a BM stall converter that
sends power to the rear wheels via a 10-bolt rear end. Also under
the hood is a Vintage AC/heat system that is currently inoperable
(we believe that the cause is improperly installed lines, though we
can't say with certainty). Out on the road, this car handles great
and is a pleasure to drive, courtesy of a Mustang II front end,
power steering, and a rear spring kit, and front rear sway bars
from Chassis Engineering. Stopping power is provided by front disc
and rear drum brakes.
Swing open the driver's door to find an exceptionally well-kept tan
tweed interior illuminated by a working dome light. The tan, beige,
and brown door panels feature power windows and are in good
condition. Both the front and rear bench seats are dressed in beige
vinyl and tan tweed fabric with no obvious signs of wear. Both
seats are very comfortable and the front bench is power-adjustable.
The rear seat offers lots of legroom and a footrest as well. Floors
are covered in tan tweed carpet with carpeted floormats and the
ceiling is covered in a tight tan tweed fabric headliner that
matches the seats and door panels. The metal window surrounds and
the dash is painted in a light almond color that blends perfectly
with the rest of the interior. The driver is treated to a 3-spoke
wood steering wheel from Lecarra with a working FORD horn center
cap and a tilt column. The steering wheel frames an aluminum gauge
bezel complete with working VDO gauges for temp, oil, battery, and
fuel as well as a speedometer and an odometer that reads 25,891
miles. In the center of the dash is another bezel that contains a
Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette stereo, knobs for the headlights working
wipers, and a pull-lever that operates the cowl ventilator door.
The stereo plays through speakers in the rear package tray but it
is not very loud. We were told that the interior was rewired with a
Ron Francis Wire Works wiring harness, so it's not surprising that
even little things like the dash lights, dome light, wipers, and
horn work as they should. Above the stereo on the dash is a crank
that when turned, opens the windshield from the bottom outward to
provide extra ventilation. Under the dash to the driver's left is a
Cobra 19Plus CB radio that is hooked up to a Realistic speaker
mounted on the floor up under the dash. Under the dash to the right
of the driver are controls and vents for the Vintage AC and heat.
The fan blows nice and strong, but as mentioned before, the unit
does not produce hot nor cold air. Ahead of the front passenger is
a glovebox that contains an original owner's manual. Rising from
the front floor is a Gennie shifter for the automatic transmission
and an emergency brake lever, both with stitched beige boots.
Service records since 2000, previous owners' notes, and a battery
tender are all included in the sale.
If you're on the hunt for a street rod, hot rod, or just a cool
classic, you're going to love this well-done '36 Ford Sedan! A
spacious and well-appointed interior paired with a great-looking
body, excellent driveability, and a powerful V-8 make this

this level today for the same price! Give us a call today and be
the lucky one to put it in your garage!
