For Sale: 1965 Shelby Cobra in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

This 1965 Shelby Cobra replica is likely one of the most interesting cars you're going to come across. It's a true performance build that is said to have multiple direct links to Carroll Shelby. And it also has a powerful V8, well-balanced style, fully independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes to be a true power driver.

This car has all the right standard Cobra features you love, like the widely flared fenders, hood scoop, race bumpers, and growling side pipes. Plus, the genuine Halibrand magnesium wheels with knock-off center hubs really make this worthy of the icon. But there's plenty of uniqueness on display here, too. After all, blue is a great Cobra color, but we rarely see it paired with golden stripes. It's all quite striking, but nothing here is too fancy from keeping you from hitting the racetrack. And that uniqueness and race-ready attitude are quite right for this one. The story that we are told is that this is a Steve Arntz replica, and he was a designer for Carroll Shelby who really started the movement for new fiberglass builds as early as the 1970s. And the engineer on the project is said to be Ron Butler. He was a crew chief when the Ford GT40 had its historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of LeMans. So this is a distinct car with a possibly unbeatable pedigree.

The black interior has the simple and purposeful style you want in a Cobra. Low-back bucket seats, toggle switches, a sports steering wheel, and full classic Stewart Warner readouts engage your driver senses. There are nice details like the upholstered door panels and back. But just like the exterior, nothing ever gets in the way of a true driver. You even have nice additions like the wind wings and strong diamond plate floor on the driver's side.

When you open the hood you see one of the best features of an Arntz car. He pushed the engine as far back as he could to get the mass behind the front axle. This is a Chevy small block, and it's said to be a 350 unit enlarged to a 406 cubic-inch motor. It also has an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Torker intake, and headers feeding into those growling side pipes. It is supported by good pieces, including Chevy's stout three-speed automatic transmission and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. As you look underneath, you can also see more of the well-engineered details, like a strong square-tube chassis and the Jaguar independent rear end with dual QA1 coilovers. And the four-wheel disc brakes even have an inboard rear set thanks to the Jag suspension.

Power, distinction, and history can all be yours with this Shelby replica...but only if you're quick enough to grab this Cobra. Call now!
