Antenna, Comfort Equipment, Porsche Script (Type) on Engine,
Factory Air Conditioning, Fuch Alloy Wheels, and Tinted Glass All
Around.
The paintwork is all original, in impeccable condition, and very
well-preserved. The Black exterior trim and brightwork are in
beautiful condition; they complement the exterior paintwork. The
upholstery is in outstanding original condition, featuring a
leather-wrapped steering wheel with butterfly horn ring, VDO
instrumentation, Coco mats, and a Herton MTX-150 Cassette radio.
The flat 6" x 15" Fuch alloy wheels are mounted to Pirelli
Cinturato CN36 185 15 tires. The undercarriage is all original and
is solid and rust-free.
Extensive paperwork and history is documenting all the services and
ownership. Originally purchased by Captain W. Mendel while
stationed in Germany from Auto Rossell KG VW | Porsche in Wiesbaden
on April 19, 1972. The maintenance record booklet contains services
performed by the first, second, and third owners from the initial
500-mile service on April 24, 1972, to 78,178 miles on August 29,
1980. After completing his tour, Mendel had his 911T ocean
freighted from Cherbourg to New York on the Queen Elizabeth 2.
Subsequently, the 911T was transported to Overland Park, Kansas,
where it remained with Captain Mendel until 1974. In 1975, the 911T
was acquired by the second owner, David A. Kegley, from Kansas
City, Missouri. By 1977, the 911T was listed for sale in the Kansas
City paper and was purchased by the third owner, Keith Lassman. The
911T was under Mr. Lassman's care for over four (4) decades, driven
until the early 1990s, and then stored for many years. In 2018, the
911T was bought by the fourth owner, who underwent a mechanical
refresh of the fuel system and braking system, as well as a
complete engine and transmission service.
In May of 2024, European Collectibles had the opportunity to
acquire this meticulously preserved 911T with original paint and
upholstery. The engine and transmission underwent extensive
ice-blasting. Engine compression testing revealed excellent results
across all six cylinders. The engine received a cosmetic overhaul
and the cad-plating hardware was all redone, the sheet metal was
powder-coated, and fresh gaskets and seals were installed. The
undercarriage and suspension components were meticulously cleaned.
The flywheel was resurfaced, and a new clutch, pressure plate, and
throw-out bearing were installed.
Mechanically powered by the matching 2.4-liter flat-six engine
producing 130 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission
(Type 915) with four-wheel disc braking system. New valve covers,
the rear main seal, and the oil cooler seal were replaced. Complete
with the Porsche Production Specification, Owner's Manual,
Maintenance Record Booklet, Maintenance Requirements, and Warranty
Booklet, German Porsche Service Booklet, Porsche | Audi
Distributors and Dealers in the US and Canada, four sets of keys,
spare wheel, jack, tool kit, and 52 years of service history. This
incredibly rare preservation-class example is finished in its
original color combination, numbers matching drive line, with
factory air conditioning, and extensive documentation going back to
the date of purchase in 1972.
