The beneficiary of no-expense-spare restoration, this 454 4-speed
Chevelle SS presents as new from all angles. Dressed in a unique
coat of Hugger Orange / Monoco Orange paint with white stripes, the
car achieves the sinister look these Chevelles are known for.
Finished in show quality trim with new glass and spotless stainless
all around, this car is sure to dominate the local shows.
Monoco Orange was not a standard option in the 1970 Chevelle
brochure, but thanks to the special order services of dealerships
back in 1970, a special request to the factory could be made to
paint the car a special color so long as that color was already in
GMs color line up. A check of this car's trim tag shows a dash mark
rather than a paint code, which confirms the car left the factory
with special order paint.
Living under the hood is a 454ci V8 LS6 fitted with correct heads,
Winters intake manifold, and restored smog equipment. The engine
block wears a casting number of 3963512 and a suffix code of CRV
designating a 454/450hp build with a 4-speed manual transmission.
Correct exhaust manifolds and a properly restored engine
compartment are also sure to please Chevelle enthusiasts.
Behind that big block, a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission makes
quick work of shifts, spinning power back to a stout 12-bolt rear
with 4.10 posi. The suspension remains in stock form with requisite
F41 suspension consisting of performance shocks, HD springs, front
and rear sway bars, and boxed control arms. When the roads curve,
power steering pairs with power front disc brakes . The vintage
setup rides on a set a correct set 14-inch Super Sport wheels
wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
Open those long doors and a fresh ivory vinyl interior comes into
full view. The optional Strato-Buckets look great and as firm as
day one, surrounded by fresh ivory door panels and a taut
headliner. From the command post, a three-spoke sport wheel ahead
of a restored factory dash displaying a full gauge package.
Entertainment is provided by an original Delco AM radio while,
behind the rear seat, the trunk maintains factory standards.
