Introducing a stunning 1962 Volkswagen Dune Buggy that has been
beautifully modified with updates to the exterior, interior and
drivetrain. This car has a clean title and has been lovingly cared
for by its owner for the past 5 years. It runs great and has mainly
been used for car shows. This gorgeous red buggy is truly a
one-of-a-kind classic with a very high end build.
This is a 1962 Volkswagen Beetle that has been converted into a
world-class dune buggy. It uses a nostalgia fiberglass body,
tubular modern chassis, a steering support, windshield and side
pods sourced from Berrien Buggy. It has the original red gel coat
from when it was built and remains in excellent condition.
Exterior: this car was a brand new build as of 5 years ago and was
dialed into what you see today. It has headlights with LED halos
and integrated turn signals, rear LED tail lights with functioning
turn signals as well, led license plate surround and billet side
view mirrors. The hard top is removable with about six screws. It
is a very high quality top and has a lot of room inside and it's
very easy to get in and out of this buggy. It has the integrated
side pods that clean up the look. Chrome wheels with newer tires. I
would give the outside of this buggy a 9 out of 10. I can't find
anything wrong with it other than the exhaust header has some
purpling in the Chrome. Which is something that's nearly impossible
to avoid, but also very common.
Interior: The interior has a custom-made rear seat with seat belts
front and back, it has Pro-Car adjustable front seats. The
instrumentation is stock Volkswagen cluster; it has a sport 3 spoke
steering wheel. The interior is clean and tidy and very well put
together. This is a family-ready vehicle with plenty of room but
you can still have a ton of fun. This buggy does not have a roll
bar but they are available aftermarket. This buggy was primarily
used with the top in place. I would give the interior a 9 out of
10.
Mechanical: this is where this buggy shines! This will absolutely
start very easily with a pump of the gas pedal. It has a ported and
polished 1835cc Volkswagen engine with a 110 camshaft and has
lapped cylinders, twin 40 IDF carburetors that have been correctly
jetted and dialed in, Pertronix electronic ignition with epoxy
filled ignition coil. The header style exhaust gives good power and
back pressure without being loud and annoying. The valve train was
adjusted with valve lash caps and rocker shaft shims. The front end
is all stock Volkswagen. It has KYB shocks all around and the gas
tank has been relocated in the correct factory Volkswagen location
under the hood. The entire brake system is new including the master
cylinder and it has an e-brake in the correct location between the
seats. The entire transaxle was gone through and it has the more
modern CV shafts with rubber boots. It also has newer tires in the
front and rear. I would give this mechanical rating a 9 out of 10.
This thing runs, drives, stops and pulls perfectly.
This is a relatively new build Volkswagen has of 5 years ago but it
has been used quite frequently for car shows and weekend cruises.
This Buggy comes with a lot of paperwork on the build. This is not
just a run-of-the-mill converted Volkswagen beetle on a rusty old
pan, this is an assembly line quality built from the ground up dune
buggy that has a ton of potential and a lot of life and will not
give you constant headaches and problems. Comes with a front tow
bar, car cover and large file of receipts and documentation.
