Vehicle Description
Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines the word Iconic as; very
famous or popular, especially being considered to represent
particular opinions or a particular time. No other car is more
iconic of the 1950's or of classic American cars than the 55'-57'
Chevrolets, and the most iconic of those is the 1957 Bel Air with
its wide stainless trim and big tail fins. The silhouette, the wide
grill with Dagmar bumperettes, and those tall tail fins out back is
instantly recognizable even to the non-automotive enthusiast. Over
almost 70 years, the Tri-Five Chevrolets have been popularized in
motion pictures, raced at the drag strip, customized in home
garages, and displayed at every car show across the country. This
beautiful 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hard top is a one-off custom build
with quite a unique history. This 57' was owned by an automotive
shop teacher for over 30 years, and when it came time to do the
restoration, it was painted by a former student of the shop class
that had gone on to open his own auto body shop! And what a paint
finish!! The exquisitely applied Deep Crimson Pearl Metallic is
combined with gorgeous stainless trim and perfect chrome bumpers to
make this one traffic stopping 57' Chevy. The exterior has been
shaved of emblems on the hood and decklid, while the anodized gold
finish of the grille and Bel Air scripts on the flanks act as
automotive jewelry. Inside this beautiful Bel Air is a full custom
tan leather bench seat interior with custom gauges, tilt column,
ice cold A/C, seat belts, power windows, and an AM/FM stereo with
big speakers in all four corners. The real music however is under
the hood! This fresh GM Performance ZZ6 crate engine is putting
down 420hp thanks to fuel injection, fast burn aluminum heads,
hydraulic roller camshaft, and an aluminum intake manifold. Bolt to
this is a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed that relay that power back
to a 9 bolt in rear axle. Power disc brakes up front and power
steering mean this is an easy to drive classic that can stop and
turn with today's traffic. This classy crimson Chevy has received
the body off, frame up, rotisserie restoration that has left no
bolt unturned. Driven just over 4,000 miles since, this Bel Air has
proven to be a comfortable, reliable, easy cruiser that can turn
rubber to smoke at a poke of the throttle. If you're looking for
