1957 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie - An iconic "cream of the crop" example of the iconic Vette that started it all and the one that's on every collector's wish list! Beautifully restored and correctly detailed with previous long-term ownership history. Early production car and correctly powered by the RARE factory performance "EL-code" option 283ci/283hp with Hi-Lift solid lifter cam (1 of 713 built). That's right, the infamous "1hp per cubic inch" engine option that was a milestone in the early days of Zora Duntov horsepower. Date codes, castings and stampings on major engine components have been verified and most correspond within the correct ranges and specifications for these special equipped cars (exhaust manifolds are cast for different year). Originally optioned with the standard 3spd manual transmission but recently updated to a more comfortable and era-correct all aluminum T-10 Corvette transmission matched to the factory "AH-code" 3.70 rear-end. This car runs strong and has just recently received a full mechanical service over the winter of 2024 including the fuel-injection unit, front end, shocks, brakes, clutch, complete wiring harness and more. A folder of receipts is included showing the recent work performed. Exterior shows very well in the correct shades of Venetian Red and beige with gorgeous chrome and trim. The body is extremely presentable however does show a few imperfections from age in the fiberglass on hood and trunk area. Doors close nice, trunk and hood shut solid with great lines and gaps and the windows roll up easily. This is a factory 2-top car with a tan convertible top which is in working/latching condition and a matching painted hardtop that is all in-tact with nice glass, trim and correct headliner that also mounts with ease. Interior is all correct in contrasting red/white tones throughout with a couple rare options such as parking brake sensor, signal seeking radio and heater. The steering wheel has been replaced with a smaller diameter repro wheel for added driving comfort but the original is included. Although the exterior may have a couple imperfections, the underside and engine bay are in museum-like condition and highly detailed throughout. These cars have always been the show-stopper of the C1-era Corvette's and their values never seem to diminish, usually fetching somewhere in the 6-figures with ease. This is a turn-key investment grade vehicle that still can be driven and enjoyed or put on display in any automotive enthusiast's collection!
