Melanson Motors is proud to offer this one of a kind 1965 Mercury
Comet . This was an Arizona car its whole life until imported to
Ontario. The Arizona desert created incredible patina on this
original paint Mercury. This is a true patina car and not a rusty
car at all. This Comet has absolutely no rust underneath and not a
single bubble or blister to be seen on the body. The seams, edges,
and gaps are excellent. It has plenty of chips, scrapes and wear
which give it a patina look that cannot be duplicated. We think it
is super cool knowing that this car is full of character that takes
60 years to create. The lettering was done by artist, Rollie
Guertin who is considered the best around. The old looking
lettering and natural patina give the car a weathered nostalgia
drag race look. This car has a strong running 302 small block
featuring an aluminum intake manifold, stainless valve covers, an
aluminum radiator, a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and headers. It has
a smooth shifting C4 automatic transmission and an 8 inch spooled
rear end. The car starts easily and drives great. The dual 2.5 inch
stainless steel dual exhaust gives the car a nice rumble. This
Comet has a beautiful bright red interior featuring a vinyl bench
seat, original style dash, bright red headliner and red carpet.
Auxiliary gauges are installed below the dash, a B&M automatic
floor shifter has been installed in place of a column shift. The
passenger side dashboard above the glove box has been signed by
legendary hot rod builder Jimmy Shine. Underneath, the car has
original floors with no patches. The floors have been painted black
and are very clean. Factory pinch welds are present along the
rocker seams and under the quarter panels. This is a great
opportunity to purchase a one of a kind muscle car full of
character!
