Cincy Classic Cars is very proud to offer this 1981 Factory Y84 Special Edition 4 Speed Trans AM which still retains its original numbers matching transmission and factory build sheet. This documented Y84 Trans Am is very rare being only 1 of 947 ever built in its original configuration with a 305 Factory Chevy Engine and 4 Speed manual transmission. This SE is loaded with factory sought after options like WS6 performance handling package, Factory Air Conditioning, Posi Traction, 4 wheel disc brakes, Y84 package, factory 3.42 rear gears, etc. This special SE TA features very nice factory correct Starlight Black paint with SE decals, a fantastic Black Deluxe cloth interior, the original factory drive line, the factory build sheet, and numerous dealer documents and brochures. This Trans Am has no visible rust anywhere and is very solid with great lines and gaps. There is no bubbling or cracked paint anywhere on the body. The underside is very solid and not covered up with cheap spray paint. There are no rust concerns anywhere on the frame, floors, rockers, trunk, or tail panel. This Trans Am is finished in the most beautiful and most desirable color combinations of Starlight Black (code 19) over Black deluxe cloth interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and included Build Sheet. These special low production SE 4 Speed Trans Am's are some of the most sought after collectible TA's on the market. They continue to increase in value and desirability. Exterior
The Starlight Black exterior is in beautiful factory correct condition. This Trans Am features beautiful factory correct Starlight Black paint with SE decals and pin stripping. The paint is in excellent condition with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking or faded paint. There is no bubbling paint or any signs of rust on the body and the metal is all original sheet metal with no signs of rust repairs. The underside is honest and rust free and not covered up with cheap spray paint. There are several factory markings and tags throughout the underside of this TA as noted in the photos. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires are newer with full tread left and are correctly sized 225/70/15 and the original turbo wheels are in excellent shape with correct center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good condition, trunk seal is new. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and jack, with a correct felt trunk mat and the original t top storage bags. The spare tire appears to have never been removed from the trunk. The speakers are the original factory speakers with GM Delco stickers and factory wire connectors. The exhaust on this TA is factory correct as the 1981 4 speed TA's shared the drive line and exhaust with the Camaro Z28's including strait pipes over splitter tips coupled with the 305 Chevy engine.
Interior
The Black deluxe cloth interior of this Trans Am is in excellent stock condition. The original seat covers are like new with no noticeable wear, no rips, no seam splits, or fading. These are not replacements but factory original covers. The carpet is in great shape with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in superb condition with no cracks, no warping, and no fading. The dash bezel has been fully restored by expert Randy Combs and looks awesome in the car. The original AM/FM Cassette stereo looks great in the car and works well and sounds great. Power antenna works as it should. The 6x9 speakers in the trunk are original GM Delco speakers. The original door panels are in good condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is the correct perforated material and is like new. The package tray is in in excellent shape. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the clock and cigarette lighter. The horn, cassette player, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds works. The factory AC system is fully intact and appears to be working and the AC system was recently recharged. This car has no smoke aroma what so ever.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in excellent mechanical condition and runs and drives very well. Most importantly the original engine and original transmission are still in the car and in very good working condition. We have driven this TA numerous times and it runs and drives really well and handles great. The exhaust system in in great shape and was replaced with newer mufflers and cat. converter and the car has a nice mellow rumble. 4 newer shocks were added and new sway bar links were added. The rear end was serviced with new fluid. This car performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. The smiles, thumbs up, and attention you get driving this car is unlike any classic car I have driven. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs very well. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should and were recently serviced. Also, the engine bay is very unmolested with several tags and factory markings still in place as noted in the photos. Several hoses have factory stamps on them still. The engine is clean and factory correct. There is a lot of originality under the hood and throughout the car.
