In 1967 American muscle cars were ruling the U.S. highways. This
was just the right time for Pontiac to introduce something new,
different and fast the Firebird. This '67 featuring a Crate 350 OH
and 4-Speed manual is as Americana as it gets!
1967 Pontiac Firebird Sprint 230ci straight six with over head cam
(OHC) delivered 215 HP. Very rare Firebird being one of only 1174
Sprint Six Convertibles produced. The original numbers matching
straight six has been maintained and is part of the purchase. The
Firebird is running a 6.7L crate 350 OH which produces 330 HP with
a GM HEI ignition system. The engine and engine bay are fully
detailed and are show ready. The silver ceramic coated headers
leading to 2.5" dual exhaust and Flo Masters gives a nice growl. A
4-Speed manual Saginaw transmission with Hurst on the floor
shifter. Power to the ground is thanks to a 10 bolt Safe-T-Track
differential geared at 3.55 with chrome cover and Pontiac badged
stainless steel bolts.
The undercarriage has been strenthened by adding a Hotchkis X
brace. All the suspension has been done so the Firebird rides like
a dream. Power front disc brakes and rear drums. The power-assisted
steering makes driving and parking effortless. The Rally Cragar mag
wheels and white letter BF Goodrich P215/65R15 and P235/60R15 T/A
tires gives an aggressive stance.
The interior features front buckets and rear bench seat that are
upholstered in black vinyl along with a matching dashboard, door
panels, and carpets. Has the center console with Hurst shifter,
faux wood grain center stack trim, and original Delco push-button
AM radio is in the dash. A new Pioneer AM/FM/CD player is mounted
on the console and door mounted Pioneer speakers. Plus, a power
antenna. New Vintage USA gauges with speedometer, Tachometer, oil
pressure, water temp, fuel and voltage meter. This cluster fits in
the original dash. All original gauges have been saved. New black
canvas manual convertible top with glass rear window and a matching
canvas boot cover.
The Firebird is finished in Mitsbishi Fiji metallic blue and
features T-3 quad headlights, front and rear spoiler. All correct
badging for the Overhead Cam 3.8 Litre on hood and OHC 6 Sprint on
the lower rockers. All chrome is at show standards including bright
work. This is a multi winning first place as follows: Firebird best
in class Griot's Pontiac GMC, Yellowstone Rod Run, Fircrest Rod
Run, Rod Knockers Show, All Pontiac Show Wenatchee WA, American
Muscle Car Show of Tacoma WA (1967-2002 class). This is just a few
of the awards and recognitions.
