For Sale at Auction: 2018 Ferrari 488 in Monterey, California
To mark 70 years of creating some of the most recognizable bespoke
color schemes and racing liveries in automotive history, Ferrari's
Tailor Made division offered 70 legendary liveries from the
marque's illustrious past on limited-edition examples of its modern
lineup. Among these heritage-inspired liveries was "The Shah," a
modern interpretation of the 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series
II Coupe chassis number 0717 SA famously delivered new to Mohammad
Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. The Superamerica was one of only
six short-wheelbase Series II examples built, resplendent in the
Shah's chosen livery of Grigio Metallizzato with a red roof and red
Connolly leather, and gifted to his wife, Princess Soraya.
Paying homage to this special Ferrari, The Shah livery was
available on one special edition example of each modern model - the
California T, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, F12TdF, and GTC4 Lusso - for a
total 350-car limited run. As a result, the 488 Spider presented
here is the sole example finished in a tribute to the Shah's 410
Superamerica, wearing Pure Metal Silver and Rubino Micalizzato
paintwork over a Vaumol Burgundy Connolly leather interior. In
addition to its 70th Anniversary livery ($42,776) and other 70th
Anniversary "Special Features" ($66,899), the original window
sticker lists full electric seats, an Adaptive Frontlight System, a
Suspension Lifter, front and rear parking sensors, and a parking
camera as desirable optional extras. Other details that complement
the specification of this spectacular tribute include its 20-inch
Forged Diamond wheels, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, Bordeaux
stitching with embroidered Cavallino emblems on the headrests, and
Grigia Alcantara mats with contrasting Burgundy piping.
The window sticker indicates that the Spider was sold to its only
private owner through Ferrari Dublin in Columbus, Ohio, in February
2018 with 64 delivery miles at the time. Subsequent registration
and maintenance history show that the Ferrari remained with the
original owner in Ohio, driving it sparingly and servicing the car
at Ferrari Dublin on five documented occasions. Offered with just
1,273 miles at the time of cataloging, this one-of-one 70th
Anniversary 488 Spider presents in like-new condition throughout.
Its iconic livery translates wonderfully to a modern shape and is
accentuated by beautiful Burgundy upholstery. The car is also
supplied with its original window sticker, owner's manuals, two
keys, tool kit, tire inflator, and fitted car cover.
As one of only five 70th Anniversary models adorned with "The Shah"
livery from Ferrari's Tailor Made division, and the only 488 Spider
of its kind, this outstanding limited-edition Ferrari combines the
company's heritage with modern performance and over $128,000 in
exclusive options. With only one private owner from new, this
Spider is perfect for any collector with an appreciation for the
marque's history seeking a like-new example.
