Vehicle Description
"The Capri was born as a European version of Ford's Mustang,
designed to cash in on the gotta-have-it popularity of the pony
car. Ford began importing the cars in the spring of 1970, selling
them through its Lincoln-Mercury division. They stumbled over the
matter of a name, failing to provide the coupe with the badge of
any marque-it was simply a Capri, though many assumed it was part
of the Mercury family." -Hemmings
This 1974 Ford Capri is finished in yellow with a black interior,
power for this Capri is provided by a 2.8-liter over-head-valve V6
motor mated to an upgraded 5-speed manual transmission. Although a
1974, this Capri has been modified to look like a 1972 RS2600 model
with painted front quarter bumpers and satin black accents.
The V6 motor for this Capri has been upgraded with such features as
a Holley 4-barrel carburetor sitting on an Offenhauser aluminum
manifold, finned valve covers, Mallory distributor and headers. The
headers are connected to a Monza exhaust with the iconic dual
chrome tips.
The black interior of the car has been upgraded with fabric Recaro
seats to provide additional support during spirited driving. The
remainder of the car's interior is in good condition, but there are
some splits on the upper portion of the rear bench seat and a few
cracks in the upper dash. Although it appears all components are in
place the heater is currently inoperable.
This 1974 Ford Capri comes to a quick start and smoothly shifts
through the 5-speed transmission. The braking is typical of a car
of this era with power front disc brakes and drums in the rear. The
underside and body of the car are very solid showing just one metal
patch under the passenger floor board.
Please note the original bumpers are available and will come with
the sale of the car.
