The mid-year C2 Corvettes are some of the most desirable,
but-honestly-many aren't very nice to actually drive. The 427s are
heavy in the front, so steering is hard (few had power assist) and
they tend to run hot, so traffic is no fun and the big 4 bbl carb
can be a pain to keep running well.
This roadster was an original 427 car, but has been upgraded with
many improvements that actually make it a nice cruiser. It has
electric power steering so it's easy to park, Holley fuel injection
gives it instant starting, clean running with no fussiness and an
oversized aluminum cross-flow radiator keeps things cool. A Tremec
5-speed transmission keeps the revs down at highway speeds and
there are no noisy side pipes to give you headaches and scorched
ankles.
The car was sold new in Texas, migrated to California decades ago
and stayed in SoCal until coming to us in Colorado in 2020.
Consequently, the frame has no corrosion or rust issues and the
fiberglass is smooth and clean under a recent repaint in the
original color. The interior was red vinyl originally, but was
retrimmed in red leather during a recent refurbishment when a new
black soft top was installed.
The engine is a correct-series replacement that was overhauled when
the car was reconditioned several years ago, that also included
suspension work, brakes, exhaust and more. A new clutch was
installed with the 5-speed and recent work has added a Bluetooth
vintage-look radio, new fuel tank and much more fettling-all the
stuff you usually have to do after buying a '60s collector car.
Comes with a hard-wired battery maintainer and a quality car
cover.
Turnkey ready to enjoy this spring; not a project to finish or a
delicate trailer queen too valuable to use-the perfect enthusiast
C2 Corvette!
If you are considering one of the classic or collectible cars on
our website, be assured that coming for a personal visit to inspect
first-hand the car that has captured your fancy is very welcome. We
practice transparency in all of our descriptions, but believe that
nothing is as convincing as seeing and touching the car yourself.
Plan a few hours, so you can see, touch, feel and drive the car,
and enjoy a tour of our restoration shops to see 'where the magic
happens.' If your schedule is too committed, we also welcome a
knowledgeable agent visiting for you. Please understand that sales
are final, so the time for all due diligence is before you buy. Our
cars are sold AS-IS, since most are on consignment from owners. We
follow FTC guidelines for all sales and certainly want our future
clients leaving more glowing reports among our reviews!
