Early Alfas are terrific period sports cars, with advanced twin-cam
engines, 5-speed transmissions and even four-wheel disc brakes!
Unlike their British contemporaries, they even had roll-up windows
and easy-to-erect convertible tops. Consequently, they were very
popular and most had the wheels run off of them.
It's hard to find one with the original engine, crash-free bodywork
and solid floors these days, and many have had dubious
modifications over the years. This little sweetheart managed to
dodge all that. It was sold new in Texas and then spent most of its
life in Arkansas before coming to Colorado. Always Alfa Red, it had
been repainted once years ago, but showed no sign of doors & rocker
panels full of Bondo or body damage. It still has its original
Spica fuel injection (that has recently had the injection pump
rebuilt) and the car has great compression across all cylinders and
good 2nd gear synchros.
That and the overall condition of the car leads us to suspect-with
no proof-that the 97K miles are probably accurate. The gentleman we
bought the car from had owned it for years and had the interior
refurbished and a new top installed not long ago. Given the overall
condition of the Alfa, our shop decided it merited giving it a
proper new respray in the original color. We did some minor rust
repair in the spare tire well and a spot on the floor, mounted five
new tires and now it's ready for a new Alfisti to enjoy. Selling
for less than our shop usually charges for a decent paint job, pay
for that and you could say you're getting the car for free!
If you are considering one of the classic or collectible cars on
our website, be assured that coming for a personal visit to inspect
first-hand the car that has captured your fancy is very welcome. We
practice transparency in all of our descriptions, but believe that
nothing is as convincing as seeing and touching the car yourself.
Plan a few hours, so you can see, touch, feel and drive the car,
and enjoy a tour of our restoration shops to see 'where the magic
happens.' If your schedule is too committed, we also welcome a
knowledgeable agent visiting for you. Please understand that sales
are final, so the time for all due diligence is before you buy. Our
cars are sold AS-IS, since most are on consignment from owners. We
follow FTC guidelines for all sales and certainly want our future
clients leaving more glowing reports among our reviews!
