This 1959 Cadillac “Flat Top” Sedan DeVille is uniquely still totally orginal and in great shape! Historically this “59 caddy” was driven directly from Detroit to Calif. upon purchase. Only 3 owners. Always garaged and taken care of with love and admiration.
STATS: This classic 1959 Cadillac 6200 Series Sedan Deville is a rarer 4 window “flat top” resulting in a more distinctive look. And of course the iconic soaring tailfins tipped with dual “bullet” taillights. The odometer reads at just over 78,000 original miles.
This car is relatively rare as it is completely original and a flat top model: no restoration… however she still looks beautiful and is a “head turner”.
The Structure /Exterior: The body, frame and floors are completely straight and solid. No structural/under carriage rust and the original anti rust substance still covers most of the underbelly. Doors and trunk open/close flawlessly. No known accidents. Chrome and stainless are in excellent condition. Some small dings and superficial scratches on top and paint irregularities on hood. All the glass is intact, no cracks and good condition. Tires are time matched white walls with good tread. Removable rear wheel fender skirt covers are functional. Hubcaps are original and unretouched.
Interior: the interior is totally original. The original dash board, instrument panel and steering wheel are without cracks and all working. No rips or tears in original black cloth/white naugahide bench seats. Pull down retractable bench seat dividers are functional. Driver section of front seat needs to new springs). Head liner has some stains. The 59 Caddy has 4 power windows and hand operated wing windows (all working). The original radio and power antennae are present (not working). Glove box and all ash trays open and close normally. The large trunk has its original lining and all its original maintainece/operating manuals in it, including spare, and jack assembly.
Drive Train: Engine bay is totally orginal and clean.The engine is standard for 1959: four-barrel, 390-cu.in. OHV V8 is rated at 325 horsepower by the manufacturer. Power steering, power brakes, and Hydra-Matic automatic transmission are standard and original. The seller believes that the Cadillac’s engine, transmission and drive train and carburetor are all original and is not aware of any alterations. She runs well, quietly and drives smoothly. New battery and lots of tread left on whitewall tires. A rebuild of the radiator and auxiliary bolt on fan was placed in front of the radiator (to keep engine cool during parades and shows).
Maintance: Recent tune up (new spark plugs, wires), complete evaluation of engine (compression test), transmission and brakes are up to standards and functional.
