1970 Chevelle Malibu 16,798 miles since build
I bought this car as a roller (no motor or transmission) in 2008. It had already been painted this great color which is fortunate as I cannot do paint or body work. (I don’t know the code or color name).
I spent the first 6 months stripping everything (suspension, fuel lines, brake lines, etc.) out from under it and wire brushing the entire underside and frame so that I could coat the entire underside and frame with POR-15.
I then started the build. I had Glen Lever from Iowa build me a GM 12 Bolt Rear End loaded with an Eaton Posi Carrier with .373 gears and Yukon Axles. I then installed the rear end using Tubular Upper and Lower Control Arms and new springs.
I did a total front end suspension rebuild including powder coated upper and lower control arms, new bushings, and a Disk/Drum brake conversion.
I installed a new GM Performance ZZ-454 engine in front of a Bowtie Overdrives 200-4R Level 3 four speed transmission and Inland Empire aluminum drive shaft. The lock up torque converter is controlled by a B&M Transmission Locking Converter controller.
Although I initially installed a Holley 770 CFM carb, I recently replaced it with a Holley Sniper EFI system with Holley Sniper Fuel Tank and in-tank pump.
I used a new 4 row aluminum radiator (does not overheat) to keep the engine nice and cool.
I installed a 3 inch Pypes stainless exhaust system with X pipe.
The interior was initially dark green with a bench seat. I replaced the bench seat with Procar bucket seats, installed new carpet, head liner, and front door cards. I used vinyl dye to change the remaining interior components to black.
I installed a Custom Autosound USA-630 retro radio.
Car has no heat or A/C. Runs and drives perfectly.
