The Shelby Cobra is considered by many to be one of the most iconic
American sports cars in history. Initially, the Cobra was equipped
with small-block engines. However, as competition increased,
notably with Ferrari's V12-powered GTO and other high-performance
vehicles, Shelby and Ford decided to enhance the Cobra's
performance by installing the powerful 427 FE big-block engine.
This decision significantly boosted the Cobra's reputation as a
formidable sports car.To accommodate the 427 engine in the Cobra,
Carroll Shelby redesigned the frame, body, and chassis. He
developed a new independent suspension, reinforced the frame to
manage the increased torque, and adjusted the body to fit larger
wheels and tires.Production of the Cobra 427 S/C (originally as the
CSX4000-series) resumed in 1997, and they're available today in
aluminum or fiberglass. Shelby CSX4935 is a prime example. This
