For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Malibu in Macedonia, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Clean 1969 Chevelle with some SS details. Great-running 350 cubic inch V8 with 4-speed manual transmission. Great color combination. Recently serviced with lots of new parts. An affordable A-body ready to cruise and have fun!Chevelles remain some of the most popular cars in our inventory, but they're rarely so affordable as this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu hardtop. It's not a real SS, let's get that out of the way up front, but it has a great neo-SS look that suits it just fine. The icy Glacier Blue paint is a great choice and with a black vinyl top and matching stripes, it looks aggressive and well-dressed. The paint is a few years old but holding up well and the bodywork underneath is in good order. Panel fit is quite good and those long quarter panels are nice and straight, suggesting they took their time when putting it together. The black vinyl top was surely replaced at the same time and remains in good shape, although there's one area with a few lumps at the base of the rear window (we're not convinced this is rust?we believe it's glue or weatherstripping adhesive stuck under the top). The car also has nice chrome bumpers, bright stainless trim that is in excellent shape, and correct badges?they didn't try to dress it up with fake SS emblems, which is kind of refreshing. It's just a clean, attractive Chevelle hardtop. The black bucket seat interior is a great place to spend some time. We believe most of the interior is original and in fantastic shape, although the carpets have surely been replaced. The seats themselves are in excellent condition, as are the door panels. The dash pad has a crack and the gauges are original, but they all work like they should and the auxiliary dials under the dash keep a close eye on the warmed-over small block under the hood. There's also a modern 3-spoke wheel that emulates the original look and feels great in your hands. The 4-speed manual transmission is topped with a Hurst shifter and cue ball knob, so it has the right muscle car feel, and we've always liked the industrial look of a shifter without a console. There's an ancient Pioneer AM/FM/cassette head unit in the dash, but we'd argue that if your first instinct in a car like this is to reach for the radio, you're doing it wrong. Color-matched rubber floor mats protect the carpets and the original headliner is in remarkably good condition with no tears or sags. There's also a giant trunk with a reproduction mat and super clean floors underneath. The engine is a 350 cubic inch V8 with the usual upgrades. It isn't the car's original engine, so no worries about numbers here, but it looks right and provides the kind of performance that makes Chevelles perennial favorites. There's a big 4-barrel carb on top, an Edelbrock intake manifold, long-tube headers, and an HEI distributor to fire it reliably. Power steering and power disc brakes are both part of the package, so this car is easy to handle under any conditions, and a giant aluminum radiator keeps things nice and cool. A few chrome dress-up parts work with the Chevy Orange block and heads to give it a look that presents well?you won't worry about opening the hood at the local cruise night. The Muncie 4-speed shifts crisply and there are 3.36 gears in back, so it's a comfortable cruiser on the highway. The underside is original (we don't believe the body has ever been off the frame) but you can see that there are no patches, no holes, nothing that should give you concerns about the car's structure. You'll also note that there's a lot of recent work, including new brakes (including fresh brake hoses), a fresh stainless dual exhaust system with X-pipe and correct oval tips, new shocks and springs, fresh bushings in the front suspension, and much more. It runs and drives extremely well. 15-inch Rally wheels look great and carry new 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear performance radials.Documentation includes a ton of receipts for the recent work.Make no mistake, this isn't a pedigree car. It is, however, a cool Chevelle with the right look, a 4-speed, and lots of recent work to make it drive properly. Clean bodywork, bucket seats, and a set of SS stripes are simply icing on the cake. If you've been looking for a Chevy A-body that doesn't break the bank, perhaps this one is worth a closer look.
