1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe in Gig Harbor, Washington

Vehicle Description

This is an all original example of the 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe.  These specific models of Monte Carlos are becoming harder to find in their original unmodified form without any aftermarket changes.  These cars represent the the last of the 1980’s US “muscle cars”, although with nothing like the size and power of the engines from the golden years of hot rodding in America, they more iconically signify the blossoming of NASCAR into a national sport that would be viewed by millions of spectators both at the track and in their homes.  Chevy already had their “straight back” Monte Carlo on the tracks by early to mid 80’s, but new radical designs from competitors quickly saw these Chevys in the rear view mirror.  These were the days when car manufacturers had to build a minimum of 200 models domestically of a body style if they specifically wanted it to race.  The designers were confident after testing that the Aerocoupe would be a real winner.  Chevrolet only made the Aerocoupe for the 1986 and 1987 model years, 200 were made for 86 – the exact number needed for homologation, and 6,052 were made in 1987 due to the rising popularity of the model. Over 574,000 examples of the Monte Carlo SS were made, so the Aerocoupe is a significant rarity in comparison.  Today, many in the know approximate perhaps as few as 3000 of the 6,052 made in 1987 to still be in their original condition let alone as drivable examples.  The car featured here is a two owner car.  It is an all original numbers matching vehicle.  The tires are the original Eagle GTs it drove off the factory floor with (these tires should be replaced though if any high speed highway or extended driving is to be done).  It comes with the original floor mats, original T-top bags, original booklets, and repro window sticker along with some magazine articles all laid out and protected in a scrapbook.  The mileage is the exact mileage on the car.  I purchased it in 2019 when it had just under 8900 miles.  The car has been well taken care of and is stored during the winter months.  It runs great with everything in working order inside and out.  It was repainted several years ago and is starting to show its age with some fading and small blemishes here and there.  It also has a very small pencil tip size dent in the hood.  I had a professional paint correction and subsequent acrylic coating put on the car which really brought some life and shine back into it overall, as you can see in the photos and video.  Outdated 2019 appraisal has it at $23,500.  I have this car priced to sell.  Do your research and due diligence and you’ll see this is a great deal.  Serious offers / inquiry’s only please.  I have additional photos and videos as well if interested.  If you’re a Washington state resident looking at this car, please note it has a period correct license plate from 1987 on it which is transferable with the sale of the car and exempt from state excise tax (no yearly car tab fee)
