You are looking at our 1978 Ford Ranchero 400 V8, loaded with many
excellent options, including the highly upgraded Brougham interior
package. This fantastic car has been recently acquired and can be
driven and enjoyed as it is or restored to show condition. Either
way, this highly optioned Ranchero offers great potential,
regardless of the direction you choose. This vehicle was under the
long-term ownership of only its second owner for the last 35+
years.

Exterior:
While this car has been under long-term ownership, it has not been
driven regularly in recent years. The body shows its age with some
usual blemishes and dings throughout. It appears to retain its
original Cream paint with a Tu-Tone top. The hardware, trim, and
glass are all intact and in good shape. There is some light rust on
the body, which we have pointed out in our pictures and video.
Overall, the car is nice and straight, showing no signs of
significant damage or repairs over the years.
Interior:
The interior is a highlight of this car and certainly supports the
low mileage, as you can see. With many factory-optioned upgrades,
this Ranchero was top-of-the-line and remains in fantastic shape.
Highlights include the Brougham interior group with bucket seats,
tilt wheel, air conditioning, sport gauges, full spare and jack,
power windows, power seat, and more. This interior will not
disappoint and sets this car apart with its high-end options
throughout. The odometer is functioning properly, and all the
switches and features appear to work as they should.
Underhood and Undercarriage:
Under the hood sits what we believe to be the original 400 V8. It
is largely stock and, while showing its age, functions quite well.
The engine holds a nice idle and, although it would benefit from a
normal tune-up, runs and drives on its own fuel supply and makes
great power. The braking system will need attention, as expected
for a car that has been sitting in a garage for a while. The car
does stop, but there are a couple of leaking lines. It holds a nice
temperature and runs smoothly. The transmission shifts properly
with no delay between gear selections. While the AC compressor does
kick on, it is not blowing cold air, but it should be close to
functioning well. An incorrect air cleaner cover needs to be
replaced with an OEM version.
On the road:
The car drives well despite having very weak brakes at the moment.
It shifts through the gears nicely and doesn't smoke or have any
unpleasant sounds coming from the engine or suspension.
Understandably, the car will need some attention to become a daily
driver, but all signs point to a fantastic example to work
from.
