Vehicle Description
Classic Car Addict is proud to present this 1973 Ford Mustang
convertible for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. Introduced in
September 1970, the 1971 Mustang was green-lighted by Ford's new
president. The revised model grew, gaining 3 inches in width to
accommodate Ford's big block 429 cu in V8 without the need for an
extensive suspension redesign.
Hailed by sentimentalists as the last of the Ford traditional
muscle cars, this example, complete with the Q-code powerplant,
would make an interesting bookend for a collector who might just
have an example of the first of the series. The 1973 Mustang went
back to two 351 CID choices, the H and the Q code; the latter still
rated at 266 HP, despite a switch to the H-code smaller valves. The
Q-code went into 12,557 Mustangs in 1973, but only 900 were
convertibles.
The interior features black vinyl trimmed bucket seats with a rear
bench with color matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting.
Amenities include faux-wood veneer trim on the door panels with
hand crank windows, lap belts, and a locking glove box. A two-spoke
steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, center fuel level
gauge, and an additional gauge for oil pressure, temp, alternator,
and brake gauge with warning indicators. Upgrades include a Kenwood
CD player with AUX port and a new black vinyl top with plastic rear
window. The original interior from factory was white knitted vinyl
(CW) but we love the black against the Ginger exterior.
The body is finished in Medium Brown Metallic (5H) and features a
body-color front bumper, chrome rear bumper with overrides, and a
power-operated soft top trimmed in black. Additional features
include chrome side moldings, a fixed antenna, and body-colored
bullet style side mirrors. The Mustang has been fully repainted
under previous ownership. The 14" Modern Rims wear Grand Am Radial
T/A's, 225/70R14's all the way around.
The Mustang is powered by a 351 CID Cobra Jet V8 with a four-barrel
carburetor that is linked to a C6 automatic transmission. The
factory rear torsion bar is still in place to help provide
automatic leveling in changes with road conditions. The front
suspension was all replaced by the consignor. She rolls on Modern
Rims with Grand AM radial GT tires, 225/70R14's.
