This is a 1962 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass built in the style of a 60’s street-or-strip drag racer - a gasser. Acquired in 2017 as a running (but barely) project, it was built out over five years under the mentorship of Chris Ashton, and what started as a disc brake conversion quickly expanded into a full engine swap and chassis overhaul.
JBA Speed Shop built 455 BBO w/ fully forged rotating assembly (including a forged Oldsmobile 442 crank), Comp Cams billet camshaft, Crower solid-bushing solid roller lifters, stainless full roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, Offenhauser tunnel ram, custom stainless long tube fender well headers, MSD ignition, and dual Holley 4160 carburetors refurbished by Sean Murphy Induction.
The Gear Box m22-Z Super Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission, vintage Hurst Ramrod vertical-gate shifter, Lakewood SFI bellhousing, MacLeod hydraulic clutch.
1970 Ford Mustang 9” rear end w/ 3.75 gear ratio, limited-slip differential, and disc brakes.
Drivetrain combination capable of producing & handling 500 HP
Speedway tube axle kit up front with GM disc brakes and Competition Engineering adjustable shocks. Speedway ladder bar & pan hard bar kits in the rear with QA-1 adjustable coil-overs.
Vintage American Racing Torq-thrust D 15x4.5 alloy wheels up front, Wheel Vintiques smoothie steel wheels in back, wrapped in period correct Coker Firestone rubber.
Griffin AL radiator, Derale remote oil filter and cooler keep it running at 185° or below.
