West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional
example of this southern California owners 1963 Porsche titled and
custom ordered 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica convertible in
'Burgundy/Maroon' exterior paint color with 'Camel/Tan' interior
and matching Camel soft top and tonneau cover and with only some 7K
original miles! The car has a VW air cooled 1600cc 4 cylinder
engine with only some 7K miles on it. The car has a 1963 Porsche
title which represents the manufactured year of the original donor
pan meaning the car is smog exempt. The Porsche 356 replica
originated in the 1970s with the original manufacturers using a
shortened VW pan but not adequately reinforcing the body. This
meant that these early examples were prone to body flex with
improper body fittings and panel line-ups. Eventually a few of the
custom builders engineered a new type of structure beginning
sometime in the late 1980's with a custom built jig welded 2x4 inch
11 gauge steel frame with an original VW pan restored, shortened
and welded to the new steel skeleton. The rigid new structure
retains the original VW pan designed by Dr Ferdinand Porsche and
integrates the largest frame possible. Only these steel frame
replica cars will pass the renown Jack Test which the original
replicas would fail due to body flex. The 'Burgundy/Maroon' color
paint is in absolutely beautiful condition and the Camel interior
is also in as new condition throughout with no signs of wear. This
particular model must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated -
the car drives excellent - the engine is extremely strong and
responsive, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and
the temperature always remains cool. You will look long and hard to
find a finer example of this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica
with only 7,200 original miles for the ultimate in daily driving
fun and ragtop summer cruising!
