1957 Ford Thunderbird
Car History
The Ford Thunderbird was manufactured by Ford in the United States
over eleven model generations from 1955 through 2005 and it created
a market niche that eventually became known as the personal luxury
car.
The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper,
a larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The instrument
panel was heavily re-styled with round gauges in a single pod, and
the rear of the car was lengthened, allowing the spare tire to be
positioned back in the trunk.
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird we have at Adventure Classics has been
restored and is in the gorgeous color of Black with the black/white
interior with both tops including the convertible top and the black
paint matching Porthole hardtop.
Features:
Raven Black
Engine-312-V8
3-Speed Automatic
Porthole Top & Black Soft Top
Raven Black & White Interior
Power Steering
Power Front Disc Brakes
Power Seat
Wire Wheels with White Walls
Engine & Drivetrain
The engine in our T-Bird is equipped with the desirable ''D'' code
option which offered a 312 cu in V8 with 4-barrell carb which had
become the Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245
horsepower in 1957 which was more horsepower than most other small
block V8's of the time.
Ours has been restored to factory levels as well as the factory
dress up kit with the correct finned "Thunderbird" valve covers,
power steering, power front disc brakes, dual master brake
cylinders, cast iron factory exhaust manifolds, and the correct
chrome air cleaner assembly that gets fresh air through the fully
functional hood scoop.
It is backed by the Ford-O-Matic automatic 3-Speed transmission
that shifts perfect and the exhaust system is good with a great
sound and with the car wearing a set of wire wheels and wide-white
wall tires.
Interior
The interior has the Pleated Raven Black and Pleated Colonial White
interior with door panels that match the dash. The dash consists of
the factory tach and gauges, AM/FM stereo radio system with the
gauges in original condition that look great in the machine turned
dash. It also comes with a very rare option of a Power Seat.
It has the correct black carpets and seat belts, T-Bird
black/chrome steering wheel, chrome automatic shifter on the floor,
accessory gauges, and that black padded dash.
Exterior
The Black paint is super looking as it flows over the bodywork with
fit and finish nicely done and is very deep and shiny. The graceful
fins and body lines have straight panels, and the taillight end
caps round out the rear end of the car.
Other details like the Thunderbird badges, dual mirrors, rear
bumper with integrated exhaust outlets, and the stainless trim on
the fender skirts are all great, plus it also comes with both the
famous Thunderbird's "Porthole" top and a Convertible top in
black.
Conclusion
Our 1957 Ford Thunderbird is beautiful in black, from top to
bottom, and more fun to drive anywhere!
You will enjoy the iconic Thunderbird look as well as driving with
the "Porthole" top, or feeling the breeze with its Convertible Top
down.
